MAPAF, a leading stationery manufacturer in Casablanca in Morocco has purchased a Bindline perfect binder from the Mumbai-headquartered Indian manufacturer, Bindwel. The company bought the Bindline without the gathering line as it intends to also bind sewn book blocks. It wanted the option of using PUR adhesives as some of its long-lasting bound stationery products are used by customers over several years.
Bindwel supplied MAPAF with its Freedom 5K binder with hot glue and PUR option that includes a state-of-the-art Nordson EP48 adhesive dispenser with Versapail Melter. Bound blocks with covers go to a long conveyor and a Trimit 30C 3-knife trimmer that are part of the Bindwel line. The 12-clamp perfect binder runs effectively for the output of 5,000 finished books an hour. This is Morocco’s first PUR binder which has replaced an older European-made binder that has been decommissioned.
As a pleasant surprise for its customer, Bindwel included an automatic book block feeder along with the machine, which is helping the customer avoid operator fatigue. With the blocks just stacked in the automated book block feeder, there is no need for manual feeding. Just three operators run the entire operation.
