On 10 February 2021, Onyx Graphics introduced its new subscription-based RIP solution – Onyx Go. The new subscription model released just after its Onyx 21 RIP is immediately available and offered in two tiers – Onyx Go Lite and Onyx Go Plus.
As we learned in a recent web meeting with Matt Crawford the Director of Product Marketing at Onyx and other personnel, one of the ideas behind the Go version is to overcome many of the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns. It enables print service providers to have more downloadable and net-maintainable or upgradeable options at affordable prices. The choice and opportunity to buy the Onyx 21 RIP outright will also remain from what we understood.
The new subscription RIP solution adds to the expansive Onyx portfolio of wide-format digital inkjet software solutions. Onyx Go is designed for print service providers who require the latest technology to meet customer needs. Offered in two product tiers, Onyx Go Lite and Onyx Go Plus, the Plus version includes enhanced color management and production tools, including ICC profiling to fine-tune profiles for output color accuracy and repeatability. It also contains Swatch Books 2.0 for color matching, finishing tools such as Bleed and Grommets to save valuable production time for everyday tasks, and Media Manager to meet the daily challenges faced by today’s print shops.
“Onyx Go brings another product option to our worldwide customer base to help them meet the evolving needs of the wide-format graphics market,” says Kevin Murphy, president and CEO of Onyx Graphics. “It incorporates all the features and functionality ONYX users have come to expect for superior output quality, neatly packaged in a worry-free, affordable monthly subscription.”
Available with soft-key activation providing near-instant access, Onyx Go is a month-to-month, no-contract, full-featured Onyx RIP solution with up to four Adobe PDF Print Engines (APPE). Its Job Editor helps signage printers and service providers in editing files before printing. There is unlimited roll-to-roll cutter support for complete print-and-cut workflows, and each RIP supports up to two printers.
