The relatively young Kasturi NX is a mom-and-pop shop headquartered in Dombivli, on the outskirts of Mumbai. Recently, the company replaced its existing digital press with a Konica Minolta C1085. Maharaja Mehta, proprietor, Kasturi NX says, “With the new installation, there has been a two-fold increase in productivity without compromising the quality.” The majority of jobs processed at the company meets the requirement of the brand and advertising agencies.

The Konica Minolta flagship model bizhub C1085 press extends the possibilities of the print service provider to provide a high-volume job. With high image quality and stability, the press satisfies the growing demands of customers and graphic communication providers. Earlier, the company used to produce 10,000 sheets in a month while with the new digital press, the total count has reached 1,13,000 sheets in the past three months. More than high-volume printing, there has been a growing demand for small quantity print jobs or variable data. “Konica Minolta’s digital press provides extensive configuration options to help grow the business. Jobs of smaller volume and other variable data printing jobs with tight deadlines can be met quickly and more efficiently with the C1085, which produces 85 papers in a minute for 60 to 350 gsm papers, thus creating new revenue sources for printers,” Mehta adds.

Mehta conducted a thorough survey with existing users of the C1085 before making his investment. He believes that the bizhub C1085 maintains the stable high image quality from first to the last impression at lower click charges. He, however, did not opt for additional multifunctional options that provide binding, folding and stapling process as the company has a battery of installed postpresses in its unit. In addition, the 400 square feet gala consists of an HP Designjet Z 5400 to produce line drawings and maps and eye-catching signs. Being located next to the Dombivli station, the days are busy for Kasturi NX and time is of great essence ever since it has installed the Konica Minolta C1085. Today, the company has successfully expanded its business operations till Karjat, a sub-district in Raigad.

In 2024, we are looking at full recovery and growth-led investment in Indian printing

Indian Printer and Publisher founded in 1979 is the oldest B2B trade publication in the multi-platform and multi-channel IPPGroup. It created the category of privately owned B2B print magazines in the country. And by its diversification in packaging, (Packaging South Asia), food processing and packaging (IndiFoodBev) and health and medical supply chain and packaging (HealthTekPak), and its community activities in training, research, and conferences (Ipp Services, Training and Research) the organization continues to create platforms that demonstrate the need for quality information, data, technology insights and events.

India is a large and tough terrain and while its book publishing and commercial printing industry have recovered and are increasingly embracing digital print, the Indian newspaper industry continues to recover its credibility and circulation. The signage industry is also recovering and new technologies and audiences such as digital 3D additive printing, digital textiles, and industrial printing are coming onto our pages. Diversification is a fact of life for our readers and like them, we will also have to adapt with agility to keep up with their business and technical information needs.

India is one of the fastest growing economies in nominal and real terms – in a region poised for the highest change in year to year expenditure in printing equipment and consumables. Our 2024 media kit is ready, and it is the right time to take stock – to emphasize your visibility and relevance to your customers and turn potential markets into conversations.
