Operating from Andheri Kurla Road, Mumbai-based Print Copy Centre has been into digital print business for over a decade-and-a-half now. Recently, the company upgraded its existing unit with Ricoh Pro C7100, Ricoh 8100se and HP Designjet 5800 digital presses. According to Manji Gothi, proprietor, the recent installations have been made to churn out a number of jobs with better print quality. The Ricoh Pro C7100 is comes with a standard finisher that collates the job and does the side stapling on them. With the help of the press, Gothi claims to draw 60,000 finished booklets in 4 colors in a month. The daily production of the company has reached 50 short quantities of around 5,000 printed sheets. “Earlier, we had the Ricoh C651EX and were quite happy with it. Our trust in Ricoh has only strengthened over the years and thus we decided to replace the existing press with a brand new Ricoh C7100 and Ricoh 8100se,” he says.

The Ricoh 8100se is a monochrome digital press and the decision to opt for it was the high number of black and white impressions. In addition, the click charge on Ricoh 8100se is far less as compared to the 4-color Ricoh C7100. With the high volumes in black and white impression, it made sense for Gothi to install the 8100se press. Gothi penchant for technology can be gauged by the fact that he replaces/upgrades his presses every four years. He added that he was impressed with the excellent customer service and support that came with his new installation.

The Ricoh press features the latest Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology combined with a new toner and advanced image control technology for offsetlike quality for professional results. VCSEL has as many as 40 laser beams that emit simultaneously to produce exceptionally accurate, smooth and professional image quality. With versatile paper handling capability, the Ricoh Pro C7100 digital press can support paper weights up to 360 gsm and banner sheet printing up to 13” x 50” size varying from 52 to 216 gsm.

“Today’s customers demand fast delivery times on short length runs. One needs an affordable color digital press that can more than meet their deadlines and can handle a wide variety of applications. Ricoh products are suitable for a wide range of substrates, including non-tearable, sticker, texture, coated and PVC paper. Advanced toner transfer enables it to print on textured media and capture more jobs,” he adds. At Point Copy Centre, the Pro C7100 produces 80 sheets of A4 size per minute and 12” x 18” sheet size at 40 to 42 sheets in a minute at 1,200 x 4800 dpi. LED lamp on all paper trays informs of the status of paper feed, which prevents opening of the active tray, thus avoiding possible paper jam and also allows the user to know which trays are not in use so they can be refilled for the next job to speed up operation.

A significant number of customers that Print Copy Centre caters to are construction and real-estate companies from adjacent areas. Print Copy installed the HP Designjet 5800 press to help these companies with architectural drawing sheets. “We were looking for a robust solution to boost productivity while supporting a broad range of local media, and HP Designjet D5800 production printer fulfilled those needs,” adds Gothi.

With the brand new installation, Gothi could easily deliver 100,000 copies in black and white, and 30,000 sheets in CMYK. The different print substrates he uses are gloss, textured, matt, sticker and vinyl sheets varying from 65 to 350 gsm. Apart from the brand new installations, the more than 275 sq. ft plant of Print Copy Centre has Canon IR 5020i, Xerox Docucolor 252 and Ricoh MP W 3601 digital presses.
