Martin Automatic TMSL splicer unwinds levelwound (spooled) or pancake rolls offering overlap or butt splices in taped or tapeless designs

Martin will display the TMSL automatic splicer at drupa. This free-standing system includes two roll unwind positions, splice unit and festoon (accumulator) for continuous feed of narrow web materials such as film, non-woven and foam. Exemplifying the flexibility of Martin’s platform approach to roll changing, the TMSL can unwind level-wound (spooled) or pancake rolls and make overlap or butt splices in taped or tapeless designs.

Some processes require, or benefit from, splices made with hot melt adhesive. Martin’s new proprietary hot melt glue feed system on display automatically dispenses adhesive and refills the applicator reservoir with precisely measured glue pellets. Designed for splicing fiberglass mat in roofing manufacturing, it can be incorporated into new Martin MTL automatic splicers and is a time- and money-saving retrofit providing greater uptime and lower cost of ownership than current industry standard hot melt dispensing methods. Martin is currently pursuing other liquid adhesive systems for splicing beyond the roofing industry.
