The Printpack exhibition in February 2015 will be an unprecedented event not only because of the quality of the products on the exhibition floor but also because it is increasingly becoming a knowledge event. The one-day NPES conference at the last event is being followed at this year’s event with a really excellent and worthwhile NPES-ICC Color Management Conference on 12 February 2015. The conference is being addressed by leading global and Indian color scientists, experts and practitioners.

Amongst the speakers at the NPES-ICC conference is Steve Smiley a leading color management and standardization expert who is also active in the development of the packaging standards as the current chair of Print Properties US, CoChair CGATS, Chair of GWG Colour Committee, ICC member, ISO TC130 US Flexo expert, Convener of WG2, expert in WG3 Process Control and Metrology, WG4 Media and Material, and WG13 Certification. Steve Smiley has established brand standards and supply chain protocols for Mission Foods, BirdsEye Foods, Scotts, Owens, Diageo, Kraft Foods, Tyson, Dial, Hershey, PetSmart, Kimberly Clarke, Smurffit Stone, TetraPak, Colgate, Del Monte Foods, Coke, Pepsi. Working with the FTA, NPES, and CGATS Smiley has worked with many Consumer Products Companies and Supply Chain partners.

Another speaker at the NPES-ICC Conference Dr Abhay Sharma, professor, School of Graphic Communications Management at Ryerson University, has been a member of the ICC and chairman of the working group looking at the issue of profile quality assessment. He is author of the book entitled Understanding Color Management thatIppStar used as a textbook in its Color Management Certificate courses at Don Bosco and Anna University in 2005.

Steve Smiley and Abhay Sharma are featured speakers at a morning event being organized in Delhi on 14 February 2015 at the Habitat Centre in Delhi. The half-day event is planned to bring together brand owners and leading packaging printers and converters to discuss the tools and workflows to bring about the quickest results for standardization across supply chains.

Similarly the Mumbai Master Printers Association and IDEAlliance India are together organizing a brand owners and packaging printers and converters meeting on the afternoon of 17 February 2015 at the Sun Ville Hotel in Worli where Steve Smiley will be the featured speaker. Both these events are great opportunities to create a platform for standardization across the packaging supply chain. It is important for the brand owners’ marketing and sales executives and those in charge of packaging design, development and production together with the printers and converters of cartons, flexibles and labels to discuss the standardization process. It is also an opportunity to learn about the G7 standard from one of the leading experts who has helped establish the protocols and standards for global consumer product companies.
