Provin Technos, the Indian distribution and servicing partner of Ryobi-MHI Graphic Technology, Rotatek and MarQuip Ward United, celebrated its second anniversary on 1 July 2014 at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Yuzuru Ichimasa, senior vice president and representative director; and Shinya Taguchi, group leader, international sales and marketing development sales and service division of Ryobi-MHI were present at the event which brought together Provin’s customers and its entire team of engineers and sales personnel together with their families.

Speaking at the event, Ichimasa and Taguchi said that their company is committed to extend full support and service to Provin which will be leveraged by Provin’s customers. For Indian offset printers and particularly customers of Mitsubishi and Ryobi sheetfed presses, the newly formed Ryobi-MHI Graphic Technology joint- venture appointed New Delhi-based Provin Technos, as its pan-India sales and service agency for the complete range of products of the new company with effect from 1 January 2014.

From its inception, Provin Technos built up a strong team of strategically placed engineers across the country to service Mitsubishi and Rotatek web presses and MarQuipWard’s range of reel to sheet machines. With the consolidation of Ryobi and Mitsubishi’s sheetfed offset production in the new Ryobi-MHI entity, Provin was entrusted with sales and service for both lines of presses. While Ryobi offers smaller formats that now extend to the productive 25 x 36-inch format, Mitsubishi’s V Series presses cover the larger formats that are especially appropriate for the paperboard packaging segment.

The Ryobi-MHI consolidation has got off to a good start with more presses sold for the first year than were originally planned for production. One learns that Provin has also met with significant success in multicolour press sales in the current financial year. With five presses already expected to be installed from August 2014 onwards, it is likely that the Provin sheetfed installs will reach at least ten presses by the end of the financial year in March 2015.

High speed B2 liquid toner digital press

At the Provin anniversary event, Ichimasa’s presentation showed not only the sheetfed offset presses of Ryobi-MHI but also a new (29-inch) B2-sized digital offset press that uses liquid toner. This development which has been ongoing for several years at the erstwhile Ryobi now gains additional impetus with the consolidated Ryobi-MHI. A high quality liquid toner-based digital press that can print on substrates from 64 to 360 gsm at 8,000 sheets an hour could have significant impact in the sheetfed printing market. Prototypes of this press were shown at drupa 2012

and at IGAS in 2013.
