The HP media summit for the Asia Pacific and Japan region (APJ) was recently held at Mumbai. With an unrelenting monsoon providing a soothing company to the media delegates gathered from all over the APJ region, HP announced its progression towards a ‘new style of IT’ through which it is transgressing to a new style of functioning where it aims to be in a more dynamic situation and be more scalable, automated, flexible as well as agile than before. HP demonstrated how it is uniquely positioned to help customers adjust to a rapidly changing business environment by delivering real-world impact on people, businesses and communities.

Several announcements were made across its corporate initiatives, enterprise services, converged infrastructure, printing and personal systems, and security portfolios.

HP is expanding its existing large- format portfolio with new devices and software designed to meet specific

business demands for high-volume, production printing. The new products include the Designjet T3500 Production eMultifunction Printer (eMFP), the most productive large- format color multifunction printer in its category, ideal for use by enterprises and Designjet T7200 Production Printer, a full-color large- format printer built for central reprographic departments (CRDs) and reprographic houses with high- volume print demands along with Designjet SmartStream a software program that streamlines the complete printing workflow.

In addition, HP announced the new HP Latex 300 Printer series, helping sign shops, quick printers and small to medium printing companies easily expand large-format printing capabilities, offer new application areas and build a healthier production environment.

HP announced the scaling of its inkjet-based PageWide Technology for

large-format printing, delivering high- quality prints at faster speeds and lower costs. This innovative technology, which consists of more than 200,000 nozzles on a stationary print bar and spans the width of the page, enables users to produce a variety of black-and-white and color applications, such as drawings, maps and posters. HP PageWide Technology is aimed at the US$ 1.3 billion production printing market currently dominated by monochrome light-emitting diode (LED) printers.

“Our customers are continuously seeking cost-effective and reliable printing technologies that improve the way they work,” said Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “The new large-format HP PageWide Technology will disrupt the production printing market by offering customers an affordable option for high-volume quality prints,

transforming an industry that typically prints in monochrome to now print in color without compromising speed.”

Large-format solutions designed for quality, volume, speed

The compact 36-inch HP Designjet T3500 Production eMFP requires no warm-up time and features an ultra- fast processor and a high-productivity scanner with batch-scanning, multipage PDF creation and scan-to- email capabilities. The device also allows for unattended and low-cost operation, producing monochrome prints at the same cost per page as LED MFPs. For printing jobs requiring high security, it is built with a self- encrypting hard drive, secure disk erase and controlled access printing.

The 42-inch Designjet T7200 Production Printer is capable of handling three heavy media rolls. It

can produce both color and black- and-white prints on a wide range of media, from bond to glossy photo paper, with a low cost of operation comparable to monochrome LED printers.

New Designjet printers built for high-speed and enhanced image quality

Also for small to medium printing companies, HP is introducing the Designjet D5800 Production Printer and Designjet Z6800 Photo Production Printer. Providing easy integration into existing low-cost printing environments, the new HP Designjet D5800 is the fastest dye- based printer which allows copy shops and printing companies to produce high-quality prints such as backlit graphics, point-of-sale displays, roll-up banners and indoor signage with the

same ink they rely on existing HP Designjet 5500.

Mahesh Soni, country manager, Designjet HP GSB India said, “The new HP Designjet Z6800 looks to increase productivity with print speeds of up to 50% faster than previous HP devices. Additionally, the printer is uniquely designed to deliver high- value indoor applications and gallery- quality prints, with durable output that last up to 200 years. The Designjet Z6800 produces top-quality prints at high speeds with advanced color management features, including an embedded spectrophotometer, as well as HP chromatic red ink for a wider color gamut and uniform gloss.”

The HP Latex 300 Printer series

Small and medium printing companies have long used traditional eco-solvent ink devices for outdoor print jobs, which lengthen turnaround times and limit application versatility. Powered by third-generation, water-based HP Latex ink technology, the HP Latex 300 Printer series helps low-volume customers efficiently handle more outdoor and indoor applications with improved durability and image quality. HP Latex Printing Technology has established a new large-format product category with more than 19,000 units installed worldwide since its introduction in 2008. Offering a complete portfolio for the low-volume market, the new HP Latex 300 Printer series features a range of price points, sizes and production levels to serve customers from small sign shops to higher-volume printing companies.

“Small to medium printing companies face the challenge of simultaneously addressing more applications to reach more customers while reducing costs and fitting in smaller spaces,” said Puneet Chadha, director, market development, Graphics Solutions Business, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “Backed by proven HP Latex Technology, the new HP Latex 300 Printer series addresses these needs with durable quality and easy operation, helping customers break application boundaries and establish a competitive advantage,” he added.

The HP Latex 300 Printer series is already available in India. The HP Designjet Z6800 and the HP Designjet D5800 are expected to be available shortly.
