Esko continues to build its strong position in India and the South Asia region with a number of new installations of the Kongsberg digital cutting tables. Esko is a global packaging printing solution provider and its range of Kongsberg tables brings solutions for short-run converting for the packaging, label, sign and display industries. The robust tables are outfitted with high precision tool heads and smart software. The Kongsberg tables are the most versatile die-less finishing solutions for the widest range of applications.

In order to help customers experience the power of Kongsberg cutting tables, Esko has opened a demo facility in Bengaluru with a fully configured Kongsberg XN24 table.

Niranjan Delavictoire, general manager of Esko South Asia states customers can use the demo facility to see first-hand how Kongsberg tables handle a vast range of applications — from vinyl kiss-cutting over packaging mock-ups, to heavy-duty milling and flexo plate cutting.

Diversified applications

Esko has various installations in India and South Asia at Galaxy Offset, Manohar Packaging, Ajanta Packaging, Global Packaging, Ficus Pax, Sapphire Digital, Colour Mate, JDC Graphics, and Glo Color Labs. These companies will use their Kongsberg tables for a wide range of applications: packaging sample making and the production of signage, POP displays, automotive decals, protective packaging, speciality packaging, exhibition displays, photo albums and wedding cards.

The Kongsberg table is easily the most expandable platform in the digital finishing market. It provides an investment safety net to take on new profitable business.

Some of Esko´s customers are so satisfied with the performance of their Kongsberg cutting table that they have upgraded it for more diversified applications. These are — Samgul Graphics & Printers, Chandigarh which has upgraded the existing i- XL24 with a PowerHead and V-notch

cutting. The PowerHead is designed for heavy duty materials such as double wall, triple wall and recycled corrugated board, plus the newest environmental boards. Step Media, Dhaka has upgraded the existing XP24 with a MultiCUT-HP. The MultiCUT-HP (high power) is the new 3 kw milling spindle used for huge feed rate and productivity increase, especially with heavy-duty materials such as thick acrylic, wood/MDF and ACM. This toolhead provides a robust solution for extensive milling.

What customers say

There is a lot of feedback about Esko’s digital finishing solutions from customers. “This machine is a good tool both for sample making and production. It is simple, precise, reliable and fast. It is also versatile in the sense that you can run paper, corrugated boards, foams, plastic corrugation and more,” says Swapnil of Ficus Pax.

“In today’s ever changing client’s needs and growing trend for print on demand, we needed to finish our digital prints, which we found in Esko Kongsberg XN-44. New and expensive raw materials keep on adding and the need for upright cutting, creasing, finishing becomes important for pre- printed materials. Being a popular service bureau in North India we have to meet the requirements of various customers and can only say that Esko Kongsberg XN-44 with i-Cut feature has provided us with a perfect solution,” says Sandeep Bhutani, Colour Mate.

“Esko’s seamless prepress workflow

has enabled us to give our clients consistent and an error free final product, using its ArtiosCAD software we have delivered some innovative carton designs to our customers.

Esko’s Kongsberg sample maker was the game changer, enabling us to put our ideas and concepts together.

Kongsberg is simple to use, accurate and cuts intricate designs flawlessly with lightning speed. It has also cleared the bottleneck of blanket cutting for varnishing jobs. The combination of Esko’s software workflow and Kongsberg cutting table has not only helped us in delivering value and new products to our existing customers, but has also given us opportunities in new markets and segments which earlier were out of our reach. Kongsberg truly is a value for money product,” according to Vivek of Ajanta Printarts.

“We offer the most innovative products in photo application and we have the best in technology products to achieve that. Hence we choose Esko’s Kongsberg XE10,” says Ramanan of Glo Colour Labs.

“Value – how do you create it? It all boils down to selling products as opposed to merely selling printed sheets. The Esko Kongsberg i-XL 24, has given us the flexibility to work on smaller and diversified orders while maintaining productivity, proficiency and profitability. Also, with our recent acquisition of the PowerHead Toolhead, we are confident that it will help us create a niche in the honeycomb and re-board segment,” says Sameer Bindra of Samgul Graphics & Printers.

“Esko and Step Media partnership started in 2008 with an investment in Kongsberg i-XL table. Looking at the capabilities, versatility and support of Esko, we invested in another Kongsberg XP24 cutting table which is the fastest table available today. We are very happy with Kongsberg’s performance and the upgrade path available with them. We have also upgraded to a High Power Milling Unit on our XP table enhancing the milling capabilities manifold,” says

Saleh Badal of Step Media.
