Printers recently bought two brand new pieces of Heidelberg equipment – a Speedmaster XL 75 4- color press with coater and a Suprasetter A106 CtP. With these two recent installations, Mangala Art Printers, a one-stop print shop with state-of-the-art equipment from prepress to postpress, now reaffirms its position in the Bengaluru print industry.

Sunder Salian, the founder and driving force of Mangala Art Printers shares his more than five-decades of print experience. “There are no short- cuts to any place worth going,” says Salian. Unassuming and simple, Salian believes in the power of hard work as his plant has attained a size of more than 150 employees.

From a farming family, Salian started as a printing press operator at Mangalore-based Sharada Press – one of the oldest presses in South India in operation since 1900. After ten years there, he moved to Mytec Process in Bengaluru in 1970, where he worked for nine years. In 1979, Salian started Mangala Art Printers with two-treadle presses and a cutting machine. In 1983, he invested in a used 4-color press, an innovation at the time in Bengaluru. And three years later, he was able to add several more.

Commercial printing accounts for 80% of the business at Mangala, while the balance comes from paperboard packaging. “Since we are in both commercial and packaging printing, the Speedmaster XL 75 is a boon in helping us cater to both segments,” says Salian. Designed for the 605 × 745 mm paper format, the Speedmaster XL 75 offers quick makereadies and consistently high production speeds of up to 15,000 sheets an hour features

that define and decide the competitive edges in technology and productivity.

The AutoPlate feature of the Speedmaster XL 75 facilitates plate changes, while the ink data is transferred from the Suprasetter A 106 CtP. The Speedmaster XL 75 offers comprehensive configuration possibilities like coating, fulfilling even the most unusual and demanding requirements in commercial and packaging printing. In addition, the Speedmaster XL 75 is energy-efficient, making it an eco-friendly machine.

The Suprasetter A106 thermal CtP offers smart plate handling, and can process 18 plates an hour with plate formats from 370 × 323 mm to 930 × 1060 mm. Equipped with a unique thermal laser technology developed by Heidelberg, the plate-setter is almost totally protected against production failures by its intelligent diode system (IDS).

Mangala Art Printers has also installed Prinect manager software for both prepress and pressroom – workflow solutions that ensure fully automatic processing of print jobs, by significantly simplifying and accelerating prepress tasks. “With the addition of Heidelberg print solutions, we are now an all- inclusive print shop, providing a complete range of print solutions to our

customers,” says Salian.
