On 16 January 2014, Bennett & Coleman owned Times of India group has launched the NavGujarat Samay, a Gujarati newspaper. Realizing the demands of the changing generation and changing Gujarat, the new daily was launched, and will feature different news sections like politics, business, youth, media, marketing, life style, fashion, city events, appointments, social media news, gadgets, and trends.

Few months ago, the TOI group had launched the Bengali daily Ei Samay, and now it is the second time that the group is entering into the regional language media space.

The TOI group has also launched an online version of NavGujarat Samay.

The website will provide content for social issues, culture and festivals and is aimed at providing a holistic news package to the Gujarati diaspora who are away from home.

The website is developed using unicode font to provide more flexibility and readability to online readers.

Apart from NavGujarat Samay, the TOI group is already publishing two another newspapers from Ahmedabad – The Times of India and Ahmedabad Mirror.

At present, the print market of Gujarat is dominated by leading players like Gujarat Samachar and Divya Bhaskar.

Other dailies with strong uphold in the market involves Sandesh, Gujarat Mitra and Darpan. However, apart from Divya Bhaskar which is also a relatively recently started paper, the established Gujarati dailies have not yet installed new presses to take on the challenges of increased colour pages and circulation.
