The new Roland DG TrueVis AG-640

Roland DG, a provider of wide-format digital printing solutions, has announced the launch of the TrueVis AG-640, a next-generation 64-inch latex printer/cutter that expands what is possible with latex printing. Combining low running costs, high output quality, expanded colors, dense white ink, and integrated contour cutting, the AG-640 helps print professionals reduce production costs, expand application capabilities, and take on higher-value work.

As demand grows for high-quality, fast-turnaround print applications at reduced operating costs, businesses need solutions that combine speed, flexibility, reliability, and efficiency. The AG-640 meets these needs, giving print service providers, sign makers, and graphics professionals a versatile solution for producing a wide range of applications from a single device.

World’s first latex printer/cutter

Built on Roland DG’s long-standing print-and-cut expertise, the AG-640 is the world’s first latex printer with integrated cutting functionality, enabling users to contour cut and print seamlessly. The AG-640 is particularly well suited for businesses looking to maximize available floor space and efficiently handle a variety of work, ranging from wraps, wallcoverings, banners, and posters to stickers, labels, and decals, where print-and-cut capabilities can help simplify production.

The integrated cutting design has been engineered to maintain the high levels of cut accuracy customers expect from Roland DG’s eco-solvent and UV platforms, while providing the benefits of being able to produce selected applications from a single device. These advantages include reduced equipment requirements, more available floor space, increased convenience, and less operator handling.

The AG-640 uses Roland DG’s newly developed TA-2 water-based latex inks and the latest piezo printheads to deliver high-precision dot control and consistent, high-definition output across a wide range of media.

In addition to standard CMYK, the inclusion of Orange and Red inks significantly expands the color gamut, enabling vibrant, accurate color reproduction and striking visual impact. High-density White ink further extends creative possibilities, supporting graphics and applications on transparent, colored, and specialty materials.

The integrated optimizer supports precise ink placement, reliable print quality, and outstanding durability across a wide variety of common and specialty media, delivering high-quality results every time.

Versatility to unlock new applications

Designed with versatility at its core, the AG-640 is ideal for a broad range of applications. In addition to producing stunning signage and display graphics, vehicle graphics, window displays, and exhibition/event visuals, the AG-640 unlocks new opportunities for print professionals, such as wallcoverings, retail interiors, and graphics for corporate environments, hospitality businesses, schools, and healthcare settings.

The AG-640’s instant-dry latex ink technology enables immediate finishing with no outgassing required, allowing users to accelerate turnaround times and take on a wider range of jobs. This technology also produces a thin, media-like layer that helps preserve the natural appearance and surface characteristics of the substrate.

Smarter workflows, greater efficiency

The AG-640 combines powerful, user-friendly VersaWorks 7 RIP software, integrated print-and-cut functionality, intelligent media handling, and job-saving functions that reduce setup time, media waste, and unnecessary operator steps. The result is a simpler production workflow with lower operating costs and greater throughput.

The AG-640’s water-based latex inks have been developed with environmental and workplace considerations in mind. Low odor and reduced environmental impact make the printer ideal for applications in sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools, and public facilities.

Combined with competitive running costs, the AG-640 provides an attractive upgrade path for existing latex users, while expanding Roland DG’s portfolio with another technology choice for businesses with applications and production environments that can benefit from more eco-friendly latex digital printing.

Unlocking new growth opportunities

The AG-640 is designed to help businesses expand their capabilities and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market. By combining high-quality output, expanded application range, and efficient workflows, it enables users to unlock new revenue streams and deliver premium results to their customers.

“With the TrueVis AG-640, we are introducing a new level of performance and productivity to latex printing,” said Ryugo Nimura, executive officer, Global Sales and Marketing Division, Roland DG. “We’ve focused on the areas we believe matter most to today’s latex users; consistent color, lower operating costs, broader application capability, and a simpler production workflow.”
