Amis, which has developed software for additive manufacturing, has signed a strategic collaboration with the Singapore company Phasio. This will link the Build Preparation capabilities from Amis with the order-to-delivery workflow from Phasio.

Amis, which is a business unit within Hybrid Software, has developed its Amis Pro software for build preparation, which is essentially the 3D print equivalent to RIP’ing a 2D file for print. It involves taking the CAD file for a given part and nesting each part within the 3D printer’s build area before producing slices for the build area that covers all the parts in a particular batch.

Amis Pro is aimed primarily at inkjet printers using binder jetting or material jetting, including HP’s Multi-Jet Fusion process, but it will also work with Selective Laser Sintering machines. It’s primarily sold to end-user companies that are printing parts, either for internal use or as a print service bureau.

Phasio is a Singapore-based platform that was started in 2021 and aims to connect manufacturing customers with bureaux offering 3D printing and CNC services. As such, it handles the entire workflow for digital production, from quote to delivery, allowing local manufacturers to scale their operations. When entering the production preparation stage, all necessary data from the Phasio system is automatically transferred into the Amis Pro software. Users can then generate the optimum build for their printer using Amis Pro. The result is automatically reported to Phasio, where backlogs will be updated and all data concerning the parts is stored for future orders.

Harry Conor Lucas, CEO  at Phasio. “This collaboration is a natural extension of our commitment to enhancing user experience. Our integrated solution not only accelerates processes but also improves overall accuracy, ultimately reducing manual errors and freeing up valuable resources for more strategic tasks.”

Naturally, Amis is also talking with other platforms so the agreement between the two is not exclusive. Kris Binon, managing director at AMIS, explained, “Our collaboration with Phasio represents a significant step forward in providing our clients with a seamless digital ecosystem. The combined strengths of our software platforms deliver a comprehensive solution that meets the evolving needs of today’s AM print service providers and production companies alike.”

Naturally, Amis has also collaborated with other companies within the Hybrid Software group, including working with Meteor Inkjet to develop the Amis Digital Front End, which is aimed at OEMs developing inkjet printers for binder jetting or material jetting. This offers much of the same functionality as Amis Pro but is more tightly bound to the specific printer and can be tailored to the needs of that OEM. The software optimizes the printer settings and the printing process and will integrate with MIS and CAD programs. Working with Meteor gives Amis direct access to the data paths of the printheads, taking advantage of the decades of experience that Meteor has in working with most printhead manufacturers.

It’s also worth noting that Amis will sell particular aspects of its technology, such as slicing and device interaction in the form of Software development kits to other vendors.

You can find more details on the Amis software from amispro.be and on the Phasio platform from phas.io.
