Ludhiana-based Foil Printers recently installed a 4-color Komori Enthrone sheetfed offset press. A commercial printer, Foil has a battery of pre-owned machines including a 5-color Heidelberg MOVHF, a 2-color Adast and a Heidelberg SORDZ besides digital presses from Ricoh and Konica Minolta.

Speaking about the purchase of the brand new Komori, Foil’s Sudhir Chopra said the new press was essential to meet the demand for quality for which his company is known. “We are the only printer of the area to get the Excellence award from the President of India and to maintain that brand we opted for Komori. The Komori Enthrone meets most of our demands within our investment limits,” he said.

Dalip Chopra, who is responsible for production at Foil Printers, added that the new machine is particularly required to meet the demand for quality production with fast turnarounds. “The Komori Enthrone 429 has a double diameter impression and transfer cylinder and it was one of the reasons why we opted for Komori,” said Dalip, adding, “We are printing around 20 sets of jobs per day with an average run of 1,500 sheets per job. And our target is to go up three times.”

The company has also invested in a CtCP from Mumbai-based Nippon Color. “The plate processing equipment was essential to feed the new printing press; we needed a CtCP in-house,” Dalip said. “Since CtP plates are expensive for a city like Ludhiana, we went for CtCP to be competitive in the local market. We consume about 125 plates a day but with the installation of the new Komori, the consumption may increase to 200 plates daily or more,” he elaborated.
