In a first for the Indian print and packaging equipment manufacturing industry, Impel Services, the force behind Bindwel bookbinding machines and Stelda-Wimco packaging solutions, has been shortlisted for the Economic Times Indian MSME of the Year (Manufacturing) Award.

The recognition is significant as Impel Services is the first Indian company from the print sector to be nominated for this honor. The ET MSME Awards, known for spotlighting India’s most innovative and high-impact enterprises, are recognizing Impel’s contribution to advancing manufacturing technology in both printing and packaging.

The award ceremony will take place on 20 March 2025, at the ITC Maurya in New Delhi where India’s top-performing MSMEs will be celebrated for reshaping industry standards, driving innovation, and accelerating economic growth.

Bindwel stands as South Asia’s dominant manufacturer of bookbinding machines, with a strong foothold across Middle East Asia and Africa. Expanding further, Bindwel has recently entered the Southeast Asian market, solidifying its global leadership in bookbinding technology.

Bindwel’s Insta for short book production and books on demand

What sets Bindwel apart is its breakthrough in the books-on-demand (BOD) market. The development of Insta, a high-end BOD perfect binder has positioned India among an exclusive group of manufacturing nations, including Japan, Germany, and Switzerland, that have mastered this technology. The game-changing innovation by Bindwel allows publishers and print service providers to produce copies of book titles singly, or in very short runs economically. This enables the current revolutions in producing textbooks and teaching guides as needed and where needed. Self-publishing and short run book production have changed the quality and economics of modern publishing in India and globally.

Stelda the new standard in sustainable transport packaging

Stelda’s next-generation case packaging solutions are designed to tackle the most critical challenges in modern packaging—pilferage, transit damage, and sustainability. With an emphasis on cost efficiency and eco-conscious technology, Stelda is rapidly gaining ground among brands looking to future-proof their supply chains.

Wimco powers primary packaging for pharma, cosmetic and FMCG products

A pioneer in India’s tube-filling segment, Wimco is an established manufacturer known for its engineering precision and reliability. Acquired by Impel Services in 2024, Wimco has widened Impel’s presence in the primary packaging sector, delivering best-in-class solutions to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and FMCG brands.

Speaking to Indian Printer & Publisher and Packaging South Asia, Impel’s managing director Pallippuram Sajith spoke about this nomination and recognition of his company’s work. “This nomination is not just about Impel, it’s about the transformation of the Indian print and packaging industries. Being the first Indian company from this sector to receive such recognition proves that Indian engineering and innovation can stand on par with the best in the world.

“Our commitment to precision, sustainability, and customer-focused solutions has been the foundation of our success, and this nomination fuels our ambition to push the boundaries even further.”

The ET MSME Awards aim to identify trailblazing companies that demonstrate resilience, technological advancement, and high-impact business leadership. The nomination of Impel Services signals a strong global positioning for India’s equipment manufacturing capabilities in print finishing and packaging.
