At Printpack 2025, Kolhapur-based Sigmarq Technologies showcased its latest innovation, the web offset Bookmarq, designed exclusively for book printing. Bookmarq has a compact folder equipped with advanced features such as DP, high-accuracy registration, cross perforation, and linear perforation.

Launched last year, the machine has already been installed in places such as Kolhapur, Nashik, and Bangalore, with additional towers with folders in the pipeline, Rajesh Ghorpade of Sigmarq Technologies, said. Bookmarq is built on the company’s established design philosophy, offering a time-tested quality similar to its Crusader series. While some automation features have been streamlined, essential functionalities such as automated registration remain standard, ensuring efficiency for book printers.

Sigmarq Technologies prioritizes global compatibility by integrating internationally recognized components from machine and SMC brands. This strategy enables seamless export, with no differentiation between domestic and international models. The company also guarantees global service and support for its machines.

Discussing the book printing market, Pradeep Shirale noted its strong growth, with a surge in orders with publishers shifting from China to India, particularly for specialized segments such as religious book printing. Customers are currently experiencing high demand, leading to capacity challenges as they anticipate further orders.

On the newspaper segment, Ghorpade and Shirale acknowledged that circulation has stabilized after a decline post-Covid, with certain regions such as Kerala continuing to show demand. While overall revenue has not fully recovered to the pre-pandemic levels, seasonal increases in pagination indicate resilience in the market. With limited capital investment in newspaper machinery over the past five to six years, Sigmarq has supplied new machines to meet emerging demand.

The company also highlighted its expansion, having moved to a new, modern plant in Kolhapur. Spanning two acres, the facility ensures rigorous in-house testing before dispatch, for maintaining high production standards.
