At Pamex 2024 in Mumbai, Nippon Color highlighted a wide range of products for the printing industry, including Konica Minolta’s spot UV varnish and foiling solution powered by MGI, Cron CTCP, and Thermal CTP machines. None of these machines were, however, on display.

The company displayed live its VD330 digital label die cutter, which excels in unwinding, laminating, half cutting (utilizing multiple cutting heads, up to four), matrix removal, slitting, and rewinding/sheeting.

Automatic job changeover with AI technology, multiple cutting heads for increased speed and productivity, and versatile roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet configuration are some of the other features of the VD330 digital label die cutter.

The VD330 represents a leap forward in label-cutting technology, empowering converters to stay competitive in a dynamic market,” said Akshat Pardiwala, chief operating officer of Nippon Color. It serves as an ideal solution for label printers utilizing digital label presses, facilitating a streamlined digital workflow with an exceptionally quick time to market, he said.

In the interaction, Pardiwala said the Cron CTCP and Thermal CTP machines have seen a surge in sales accompanied by an increased demand for CTP plates. Hopeful of a promising future for the pre-press segment, Pardiwala believes that advancements in process-less plates and comprehensive operator training are the key to the path of sustainability, which is the call of the future and a driving factor to progress.

The event’s success was evident through our interactions with numerous company decision-makers, who approached us with substantial inquiries. With a legacy dating to 1972, we were already familiar with a significant portion of print service providers. However, what truly invigorated us was the opportunity to connect with a host of new potential clients not only from Mumbai but from other regions in India,” Pardiwala said.

In the four days at Pamex, Nippon Color finalized six deals for CTP machines. “These transactions comprised two Thermal CTP machines and four CTCP machines, all bundled with our plates. Notably, these clients are projected to consume an estimated monthly average of over 100,000 square meters of plates from us.”

The company sold a Konica Minolta Accurioshine 3600. A VD330 was also booked by a customer who utilizes digital label printers for short runs and VDP (variable data printing software).
