Chhattisgarh Printers Association (CPA) organized a technical seminar conducted by Technova Imaging System at the Printpack India 2015 roadshow on 19 December at the Hotel Sapphire Inn in Raipur. Indian Printing Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA) organizers of Printpack India 2015 in February at Greater Noida in the Delhi NCR joined hands with CPA to conduct the roadshow.

CP Paul, general secretary of IPAMA, says, “The Indian printing and packaging industry is one of the biggest among the worldwide printing sectors. Printpack India will play a significant role and is an ideal platform to promote the ‘make in India’ vision of our prime minister.” According to Paul, the Indian printing industry is still dominated by the SME and MSME sector.

Paul says, “The need of the hour is to bring the entire printing industry under one roof which will be achieved during Printpack India. With more than 400 exhibitors participating at the show, it is poised to be one of the biggest platforms for print, packaging, graphic and allied industries acrossthe globe. We are expecting the numbers of the 2013 show to double this time. Already, visitors from 10 countries have pre-registered to visit the show.”

The growth in printing and packaging is visible in Central India. Commenting on the growing print sector in Central India, Uttam Chand Gandhi, president of CPA, says, “Central India is emerging as the fastest growing printing hub. This can be attributed to the availability of the latest technology at our doorstep. Due to the growing demand for the latest packaging and the advent of modern trade in Chhattisgarh, especially in cities like Raipur, the sector has enormous opportunity to set up new printing and packaging units.”

Besides the roadshow, the CPA also organized a technical seminar conducted by a team of technical experts from Technova Imaging Systems that discussed various types of chemistry used in prepress and pressroom. Kirat Saluja, executive member of CPA, says, “It isimportant for print firms and printers to understand the nuances of the chemistry used in the prepress and press. Whether it is CtP or the conventional PS plate, the chemistry and its nature is very vital. Even on the press, it is important to understand how chemistry will behave on print. Ultimately, the main aim is to achieve not only a saleable but also a high-quality print.”
