The Vijayawada-based JC Graphics recently installed a brand new, 6-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 with UV coater. This is the first-of-its-kind installation in Andhra Pradesh.
Founded in 1977 by T Ratnakar Hegde, JC Graphics started off printing cinema posters and later expanded to the paperboard packaging segment. The recent installation of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 adds to the stateof-the-art prepress, press and postpress equipment of the company.
“The Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 installation is a dream come true for us,” says Karunakar, managing director, JC Graphics. His brother Dinakar, a director of the company nods in agreement, “The Speedmaster CD 102 is a blessing in terms of productivity, speed and efficiency. Our after-sales experience with Heidelberg is outstanding.”
Dinakar adds, “When we decided to buy a brand new press, Heidelberg was our first choice. The Speedmaster CD 102 is a perfect fit to our requirements. Our first impression of the press at an open house in India was remarkable. A subsequent visit to the Heidelberg factory in Germany further reaffirmed our expectations.”
Commenting on the recent installation, Saseendran Baskaran, product manager – Press Solutions, Heidelberg India, says, “The Speedmaster CD 102 is an apt choice for packaging printers in India, as it can process an array of substrates from 0.03 mm paper to 1 mm thick cardboard. The AutoPlate feature paves way for fast plate changes and short makeready times, while an Air Transfer System facilitates contact-free sheet travel. A high capacity inking unit ensures stable inking throughout the run.”
JC Graphics being a hardcore packaging printer, most of its print jobs require coating. The unique UV coating unit of the Speedmaster CD 102 is fitted with a chambered doctor blade system to meet the most exacting print quality and coating requirements, and is suitable for the printing needs of the company. The Speedmaster CD 102 is also highly energy-efficient, slicing energy consumption costs significantly.
Looking ahead, JC Graphics plans to phase out some old machines in its printing, diecutting, lamination and gluing departments with new and modern machines. Morever, it is initiating an effort to obtain the ISO 12647-2 certification, and is now closely working with the Heidelberg team to achieve the ISO standards. On certification, JC Graphics expects to become the first print shop in Andhra Pradesh to be recognized for ISO standardization.
