This year’s Bookaroo Children’s Literature Festival at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi is slated to be held on 26 and 27 November 2016. The fest is being eagerly awaited by the city’s little literature lovers. The last edition of Bookaroo in Delhi saw a full house of the city’s little bookworms and was attended by publishers, writers, illustrators, school teachers and many well-wishers from not just India but also abroad, which made the event a huge success with their participation and contribution. This year, the event timings will be from 11 in the morning to 5 in the evening and as before, the organizers are expecting a full house.
The last Bookaroo event was held at the Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, on April 30 and 1 May 2016. The fest was considered a massive success as it was attended by hundreds of children of all age groups. Seventeen speakers from four countries made it an event to remember for these little kids.
Bookaroo is supported by Pratham Books. Both Bookaroo and Pratham Books are working together to ensure that no child is left untouched by the magic of books. Pratham Books’ initiative of organizing Bookaroo is also aimed at ensuring that books in Indian languages get the attention they deserve and children enjoy stories and books in Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu and other languages. Bookaroo is also held at Ahmedabad, Goa, Pune, Jaipur and Kuching in Malaysia.
