Industrial Design Centre (IDC), a design school, established in 1969 by the Government of India at the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay offers Master of Design and Bachelor of Design degree programmes in Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Interaction Design and Mobility and Vehicle Design as well as a PhD programme in Design.

IDC will be conducting workshops on design in the months of July, August and September 2016. The workshop on Life Drawing and Sketching for 7th to 12th standard students was held on 9 July from 10 am to 1 pm. There were sessions on basic drawing, life drawing (object/ figures), drawing exercises (basic object compositions, understanding silhouettes and understanding depth and shadows. 

The workshop on Character Design for Seniors for 7th to 12th standard students will be held on 13 August from 10 am to 1pm. There will be sessions on character design, drawing basic shapes and warm-up sessions, introduction to shape language and character design exercise on several of the provided themes.

The workshop on Character Design for Juniors for 3rd to 6th standard students will be held on 13 August from 2.30 to 5.30 pm. It will comprise sessions on brainstorming, creative explorations, character design through role play, character detailing, visual design, team work and creating monster characters through gaming.

The fourth workshop on Basics of Animation for 7th to 12th standard students will be held on 10 September 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm. Registration will open from 14th August onwards. There will be sessions on introduction to animation, a demo on animation, introduction to principles of animation, stop motion introduction through movie screenings and pixilation. The final workshop on Designing Comics for 7th to 10th standard students will be held on 8 October from 10 am to 5 pm.

In the above-mentioned workshops students will get an exposure to the D’source website. Participation is free of cost. However, students will have to bring their own drawing materials. Those interested in attending the workshops can register at www.dsource.in/about/ events.
