Nutech, Monotech and Scodix celebrate E106 signing at drupa

Among the few print machinery suppliers that have had a pretty successful drupa 2016, one will certainly be Scodix. In its bustling stand, the latest offering from Scodix – the E106 was launched.

The E106, is a B1-format multifunction digital enhancement press for short to medium-length runs which Scodix says would help folding carton printers and converters differentiate their offerings and boost profit margins. Commercial deliveries of the press are set to start in 2017.

Scodix chief executive Roy Porat told the assembled media at the Scodix stand, “Drupa 2012 was considered by all as the launch of Scodix, and a great success for the business. Between shows we grew from 12 customers to over 200, and we were hopeful of the same success in Düsseldorf again this year. We have seen all that and more.”

Scodix presses are distributed in India by Monotech Systems. A visibly excited Amritpal Singh Bawa, vice president, DPE – commercial and packaging of Monotech Systems said, “This is a Scodix drupa. It has been a fantastic drupa for us. We are overwhelmed by the reaction that we have got. Although I cannot disclose the number of deals or the specific printers that are interested at the moment, I will say the overall figure is beyond our initial expectations. The most number of deals at the show has come from India and spread across the length and breadth of the country. We even managed to close a deal from Kolkata. Overall we are going over 100 units worldwide.”

He further added, “With the launch of E106, which has the capability of spot UV, embossing, foiling, cast and cure, with a speed of 4,000 sheets in B1 size and 6,000 sheets in B2 size, this is a machine which will be an excellent choice for commercial and packaging printers. Nowadays, normal printing is not good enough. You have to add value to your products so that as a printer you get a competitive edge. This is where a machine like Scodix comes into the picture and after drupa 2012, it has really changed the market. Scodix has shown the value of print enhancement. We have already installed 25 machines in India. Now, we are really looking to get into a really good figure by the end of the year.”

Lior Meron, VP Asia Pacific BD of Scodix also said, “The Asia Pacific region has a tremendous growth potential. The Indian market is obviously doing very well. With the support of Monotech Systems, we aim to continue our success.” Apart from the E106, Scodix also demonstrated its proven product portfolio – including the Scodix Ultra Pro digital enhancement press with foil station and the Scodix S Series digital enhancement press.

“Drupa has proven to be very successful for Scodix and we are pleased to return to a show that provides us with a platform to engage with some of the most influential manufacturers and suppliers to the industry. Presenting our latest portfolio at this landmark event is extremely exciting and we look forward to what we can achieve, both as a company and for our customers, at drupa 2016 and beyond,” Roy Porat concluded.

Nutech Packagings buys India’s first Scodix E106

Noida-based Nutech Packagings has become India’s first company to sign a deal with Monotech Systems for the Scodix E106, which was launched at drupa 2016. The new digital press, which will be shipped in Q2 2017, will be installed at Nutech Packagings’ 1,200,000 square-foot green plant in Greater Noida. However, Nutech will be allowed to use a Scodix Ultra at its plant till the E106 arrives. Nutech has asked for some customization of the Scodix E106 to fit its needs.

Jatinder Shroff of Nutech Packagings says, “We will use this digital finishing press for the production of high-end and luxurious packaging jobs in the range of 15,000 to 20,000 print runs.” The B1-format Scodix E106 has production speeds of up to 4,000 sheets per hour and can overcome the challenge of using expensive foils for cold foiling.

Nutech will use the Scodix E106 in conjunction with its latest Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102- 7+LX carbon neutral combi press installed at the environmentally friendly plant in Greater Noida. The new plant is expected to be fully operational by August 2016. Nutech’s impressive green building in Greater Noida will be certified by the UK-based Leeds and has a lot of initiatives in terms of lighting, power management, design and structure. “The Leeds certification will come this year,” Shroff says.

Nutech produces printed cartons, corrugated boxes and other packaging materials for various leading multinational and Indian companies. The current offset printing facility is complemented by an HC Moog sheetfed gravure press. Its Esko software and workflow drives proofers, a thermal CtP and a Kongsberg samplemaking table.
