In recognition of his services to the printing industry, especially print education in India, the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism & Communication (MCU), Bhopal has nominated Kamal Chopra as adjunct professor for printing. A qualified printer and a gold medallist in printing technology, Chopra has many laurels to his credit including the Global Print Leadership Award at Chicago by NPES. One of his works – a 13-page calendar offering a complete history of printing that goes back to over 100,000 years found place in the Printing History Museum at Beijing in China and is considered a huge contribution to the history of printing. He was also felicitated at Birmingham in the UK by the BUMPSA for his achievements in the printing industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Chopra said, “I am thankful to BK Kuthiala, vice chancellor of the university and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, for recognizing my efforts. Printing is a fast-growing profession and in this digital age printing is also developing as a versatile media. We need a lot of qualified printing engineers to cope with the latest developments especially in 3D printing and printed electronics. It will be my good fortune to work with MCU to train the printers of tomorrow.”

MCU has five campuses – the main campus is at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and other campuses are at Noida, Khandwa, Gwalior and Amarkantak. The university also has two study centres in Nepal and another campus at Rewa is coming up fast.
