Coimbatore-based Rashma Printers installed a Canon ImagePress C650 digital press in March 2017. Started in 1992, the company was involved only in commercial and screen printing until 2016 when it ventured into the digital segment as well. Today the company provides a range of print services in all three domains. Rashma started its digital endeavor with a Konica Minolta C360 digital press, which it continues to operate.

Speaking about the new installation, A Stephen of Rashma Printers said, “The demand for high-quality, short-run prints was increasing and we were looking at an advanced light production digital press that could offer excellent print quality. After extensive research in the market, we finally zeroed in on the Canon ImagePress C650 digital press.”

Built on the same platform engine as the imagePress C850 Series, the C650 prints at 65 ppm and supports a range of production RIPs including PrismaSync and the new EFI Fiery imagePress Server H300. The press comes with finishing options, which include a two-knife booklet trimmer, a paper folding unit, a document insertion unit, a booklet finisher, a multi-hole punch including creasing and a staple finisher. The device also enables duplex banner printing, offering enhanced productivity when producing applications on long sheet media. The press is capable of automatic duplex printing up to 300 gsm.

According to Stephen, the company prints about 40,000 sheets digitally every month, which is about 40-60% of the total print volume of the company. “The new press allows us in meeting specific customer needs. It is important that we upgrade our capabilities according to customers’ demands,” said Stephen. “With the installation of the new ImagePress C650, our digital production has gone up by 25%.”
