We met senior executives of Kodak India, Hersh Lulla, manager – marketing, India cluster, Natesh Puri, national business manager, offset packaging segment, India cluster and Shubrajit Ray, national business manager, India cluster software and solutions division, at their stand at PrintPack 2017. Lulla explained that Kodak decided to display its range of digital prepress solutions since the company has a great portfolio, which they felt should be showcased at the event. The idea was to ensure that Kodak had the right people at the event to handle inquiries and showcase the benefits of its solutions.
Natesh Puri, who also heads Kodak’s North India marketing operations, pointed out that the entire range of solutions that Kodak offers in offset packaging and flexible prepress is aimed at bringing simplification of workflow to the customer. Both offset packaging and flexible packaging solutions are offered through a single window. He pointed out that the end-to-end solutions offered by Kodak enables a customer to diversify into different segments of printing. For instance, an offset printer wanting to diversify into flexible prepress can easily do so on the Kodak platform without bothering to look around for options. Puri then highlighted Kodak’s contribution in harnessing green technology with the success achieved by the Kodak Sonora UV plates that are now at the forefront of environmental and economic sustainability.
Subhrajit Ray, who heads the workflow solutions team in Kodak for the India cluster, spoke of the launch of Prinergy8—the latest and the most upgraded version of the industry-leading Prinergy workflow automation series. The Prinergy 8 has a number of new solutions primarily designed for the packaging industry although the basic engine remains the same. From the digital point of view, Kodak is offering an integrated portfolio solution, which can drive both commercial and digital at the same time.
Ray shared that Kodak has launched the Prinergy Cloud Services globally, which works on the Microsoft Azure platform and remains a highly niche service right now. Kodak’s cloud solution also offers data analytics, which is another milestone. The cloud services of Kodak are available on a subscription basis where the user just has to renew every time the balance gets exhausted. Ray says that this allows Kodak to offer its solutions as a service that customers can access very easily.
