At the Falcon Vacuum Pumps stand at PrintPack 2017, Amarpreet Singh, director of the company, was busy speaking to interested customers of dry vacuum pumps and dry vacuum pressure pumps, of which his company is a leading manufacturer in India. At the stand, Singh explained that his company essentially supplies to what he calls the ‘replacement market,’ which means replacements for vacuum pumps of printing presses. He shared that the pump that Falcon manufactures for Heidelberg CD 102 is manufactured only by four companies in India today.
Falcon has no collaboration with any foreign manufacturer and the entire production process is based in-house in India; in fact, Falcon designs its own pumps right from the casting stage at its specialized casting unit.
Singh shared that the company was founded by his father in 1981 to manufacture tractor parts and it was not until they received an order from The Printers House (TPH) for manufacture of printing press parts, that Falcon diversified and began producing vacuum pumps for the printing industry. He credited TPH for introducing his company to the printing industry supply chain.
According to Singh, the year 2016 was generally good barring the last two months when demonetization impacted their business to a certain extent but now it appears to be getting back to normal. Falcon is a leading name in North India with sales of around 350 vacuum pumps every month, he informed.
