Patparganj-based GM Offset installed a Komori Enthrone E 426 in October 2016. GM
Offset, which provides its services to both commercial printing and package printing markets, prints about 10 lakh sheets a month, according to Govind Arora of GM Offset. “We started off as a commercial printer in 2011, but today we are into package printing as well. Over time, we have been highly successful in increasing our packaging printing volume, which is now about 70% of our total volume. The remaining 30% is commercial printing,” says Arora.

GM’s decision to invest in the new Komori E426 was to provide better quality to customers as well as to take control of wastage. “Wastage poses a big challenge in our business. If you are able to handle it properly, it is like a battle half won. Whatever you save by reducing wastage, will eventually allow you to slowly build your bottom-line to provide more value to your customer while at the same time allowing you to earn an ethical, decent and justified margin.”

Arora operates the new Komori at a speed of 11,000–12,000 sheets an hour. The Komori E 426 has an improved register accuracy, automatic blanket washing and automatic impression cylinder cleaning by means of a pre-soaked cloth as well as automatic ink roller
cleaning. The press can operate at a maximum speed of 13,000 sheets an hour and the print preparation time is further cut by the coordination of various functions, enabling
short make-readies that easily accommodate heavy stock.

Apart from the Komori, GM Offset has two 4-color Dominant presses along with its own prepress unit, which has an Amsky Ausetter CtCP. The company consumes around 150 plates daily—mostly TechNova plates. “India is such a huge market that there is a market
for every printer, so printers don’t have to worry about the market.

All they have to focus is on quality and timely delivery. Today, one of the common trends is printing commercial and packaging jobs under a single roof, on the same press. So, if a printer is capable of packaging printing as well, it is an additional score to his already
existing market. In other words, there is no dearth of customers—all that a printer needs to do is grab the opportunities and and make his way to more opportunities,” concludes Arora.
