In mid-December of 2017, Heidelberg India organized an event in Pune called ‘Celebrating Speedmaster CX 75.’ The seminar, which was organized to commemorate the launch of Speedmaster CX75 in India, highlighted the features of the CX75 and also discussed several other Heidelberg offerings such as the company’s Multicolor solution for higher gamut printing, the Prinect press manager and the Gallus ECS 340 label press. In addition, partner products such as Steinemann’s finishing solutions and MK’s die-cutting and converting machines were discussed.

The knowledge-sharing event drew close to 50 printers from Pune and surrounding cities and towns. Peter Rego, business head, Equipment Sales Heidelberg India, presented the concepts of the Smart print-shop and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), while Saseendran Baskaran, general manager Press Solutions, described Heidelberg’s Multicolor concept and demonstrated with active samples how printers can achieve Pantone shades with CMYK plus orange, violet and green inks.

After defining the CX75 as a “multi-talent press in the 50 x 70 cm format, available in 4, 5 or 6 colors,” Udo Fiebiger, regional business manager Sheetfed Solutions, Heidelberg Asia Pacific, spoke about the benefits of this press. Key takeaways from his presentation were that the double-diameter impression cylinders open up the CX75 press for a wide range of applications and substrates. Flexible configurations with coating and drying units, easy operation and seamless integration with the Prinect press center 2 digital workflow make it a strong and future-oriented platform.

“We anticipate active interest in CX75 from Indian printers, thanks to features like quick turnaround times, reduced operational footprint and the compact size of equipment,” Ashokan Krishnamoorthy, GM – Prepress Product solutions, stated in his presentation. He also highlighted the Prinect Prepress Manager and the significance of prepress solutions in commercial and packaging printing. In his address, Lalitkumar Lamba, product manager Postpress Solutions, focused on the latest Steinemann finishing solutions including digital foiling from Heidelberg’s Switzerland-based partner. Lamba explained the advantages of the dmax 76 and dmax 106 foiling equipment and some of the eye-catching effects that packaging printers can achieve with coating and foiling applications.

Narendra Kulkarni, regional product manager, Gallus Asia described how the best-selling Gallus ECS 340 works for cost-effective label production. He explained that its short web path of 1.1 meters between printing units significantly reduces production wastage. He touched on how the granite core helps counteract any build-up of static charges on the ECS 340, because of its non-magnetic and non-conductive properties. Overall, the event affirmed the value and competitive differentiation of Heidelberg and its partner products. Attendance was enthusiastic and lively with participants describing the seminar as “productive and useful.”
