Automation equipment for layflat books by Imaging Solutions based in Zurich

Imaging Solutions, the Zurich based manufacturer of automation equipment for building layflat books and personalized canvas prints, will be hosting an open house at their headquarters from 25 February 1 March 2019. The event is open to commercial printers, book manufacturers, photographic labs and personalized gift fulfilment companies who are interested in automation and improvements in production workflows for book and wall decor manufacturing.

The open house is scheduled concurrently with the Hunkeler Innovation Days which is being held in Lucerne Switzerland, about an hour by train from Zurich. Imaging Solutions is near the Zurich airport and on the way to Lucerne, which makes it easy for visitors to Hunkeler Innovations Days to visit before or after the Hunkeler event.

Imaging Solutions will also have a booth at the Hunkeler Innovation Days to show samples of the layflat books and canvas prints and discuss the equipment that will be on display at the open house.

Imaging Solutions is best known for the fastBlock machines that it supplies for building premium layflat books and are used in photo labs like Cewe, Shutterfly, Allcop, Fujifilm, Mpix and most of the high-volume photo book fulfilment companies. The layflat books open into seamless panoramic spreads which are perfect for consumer photo books, wedding albums, real estate sales collateral or any content that requires a high visual impact.

The open house will feature the fastBlock 05 in a roll fed configuration with a Hunkeler Unwinder for high volume personalized book production and a fastBook Professional which can produce layflat books and flush mount albums up to 18×18 inches. This will also be the debut of a new sheetfed fastBlock configured specifically for commercial book production.

The open house will include demonstrations of the fastFrame machines which stretch and staple canvas prints around wood frames. These machines are used in many of the high-volume photo labs listed above as well as personalized wall decor companies.

The fastFrame models that will be demonstrated include the fastFrame 1200+ which can stretch prints up to 48×48 inches and the fastFrame 300 for sizes down to 4×4 inches. This will be one of the first opportunities for many printers to see the new fastFrame 600 SA which can stretch 180 frames per hour and can handle sizes from 8×8 to 24×24 without requiring format plates or setup changes.

Imaging Solutions is the world’s only supplier of high-volume silver halide printers and the open house will include a demonstration of the widePrint 12nG printer and VSP 25-12 processor. Together, these can print and process prints and photo book pages up to 12×40 inches at a speed over 6000 8×10 prints per hour.

In addition to the equipment demonstrations, technical automation experts and representatives from several paper companies will be available to discuss the best processes and materials to optimize image quality and manufacturing processes.
