On 25 September, WAN-IFRA will be conducting learning workshops at HICC, Hyderabad. The workshops will be based around two central themes: Social Media for News Editors, and Innovation in Printing.

The first workshop will focus on the growing power of social media and talk of ways it should be harnessed by news publishers to increase the reach with carefully designed and correct information. This workshop will bring together ideas and strategies to maximize the benefit of social media platforms. News editors, social media editors, sub-editors, and new media editors will benefit from this advanced program. Steve Yelvington will be conducting the workshop. Yelvington was born into the news business, the son of a newspaper editor, and has worked as vice president/Audience, vice president/Content and Strategy, director of Publishing Systems, executive editor and in other roles for Morris Communications, Cox Interactive Media, and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Before moving to the digital world in 1994, he worked in print journalism in Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois.

The second workshop, headed by Manfred Werfel, deputy chief executive officer, WAN-IFRA Germany, will center round innovations in printing. In the digital era, innovation plays the right cards for the printing and newspaper industry to compete with other media platforms. The workshop will state how innovation must be deep-rooted and organizations should follow a culture of innovation to achieve the right product for the business goal.

This workshop will discuss all these and the strategies to be successful as a newspaper publisher. This will bring successful examples of innovation and learn from each other. One can register online at www.wan-ifra.org/india2018 or call: +91.44.4211 0640 or eMail infoindia@wan-ifra.org.
