Printing presses are getting older, and in many cases new investments are scarcely economically viable – yet the equipment must continue to operate reliably and efficiently. As a result, retrofits and targeted modernization are becoming increasingly important. manroland Goss offers tailor-made solutions and technical expertise in this area.

The company had already shared its expertise in the life-cycle management of printing presses at the NOPA seminar in Malmö. At the next meeting of the Nordic Printing Association (NOPA) on 11 and 12 November 2026 in Amsterdam, manroland Goss will continue its dialogue with industry representatives.

*Retrofits as a solution for the future: continuing to operate existing printing presses cost-effectively and reliably.

*Comprehensive retrofit expertise: Tailor-made modernization, automation upgrades and service from manroland Goss.

*Industry dialogue in Amsterdam: manroland Goss continues the exchange at the NOPA meeting on 11 and 12 November 2026.

NOPA: An exclusive network for the Nordic printing industry

The Nordic Printing Association (NOPA) was founded in the 1970s and established as a formal organization in 1999. It is one of the leading industry networks for print shops and their suppliers in the Nordic and Baltic regions. As a closed network, NOPA promotes direct exchange between print shops, publishers and industry partners.
Focus on life cycle management and future prospects for the printing industry

The operating environment for the printing industry remains challenging. Whilst the scope for investment in new printing presses is becoming increasingly limited, extending the service life of existing equipment is becoming increasingly important.

At the same time, the long-term availability of spare parts, technical support and the modernization of older machines present challenges for many companies.

NOPA seminar in Malmö: Solutions for the entire machine life cycle

As a guest speaker at the recent NOPA seminar in Malmö, manroland Goss presented solutions for holistic life-cycle management. The economic sustainability of existing printing presses does not depend solely on their technical performance.

Equally crucial are the long-term availability of spare parts, reliable technical service and targeted modernization.
In addition to retrofits and automation upgrades, manroland Goss’s portfolio also includes the supply of spare parts, technical services and second-hand printing presses and components. Together with its subsidiaries GWS Printing Systems and GWS Parts, the group supports printing companies throughout the entire life cycle of their machinery.

Eric van Kessel, commercial director at GWS Printing Systems, explains, “Printing companies across Europe are under real pressure: machines are running for longer than planned, spare parts are becoming scarcer, and there is limited financial scope for new investment. This is precisely where our portfolio comes in. Malmö has shown that demand for reliable lifecycle solutions is growing – and that we have the right answers.”

Continuation of the industry dialogue in Amsterdam

The next NOPA meeting will take place in Amsterdam on 11 and 12 November 2026. manroland Goss is once again planning to attend in order to continue the dialogue with representatives of the printing industry and industry partners. The main focus will be on how the printing industry can become more cost-effective and sustainable through AI, automation and new production technologies.

The manroland Goss Group is the leading supplier of web-offset printing solutions. The company provides System Solutions for highly automated press and post-press equipment, Engineered Solutions for mechanical, automation and closed-loop up grades for all types of presses.

GWS Printing Systems is a subsidiary of the manroland Goss Group and an international supplier of web offset printing presses, auxiliary units and technical solutions for the printing industry.
