OmniMarkz SE eliminates the need to rebuild documents from scratch. It gives organizations a faster, more cost-effective way to preserve and repurpose the content

Markzware has released OmniMarkz SE v4.2 for Windows, adding support for Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files, the most requested enhancement from customers.

As Microsoft Publisher approaches its October 2026 end of life, OmniMarkz SE v4.2 provides organizations a practical way to preserve existing .pub content, reduce manual recreation, and transition important documents into more reusable, future-ready workflows, a press release stated.

OmniMarkz SE v4.2 features a simple drag-and-drop workflow that enables users to import Microsoft Publisher files directly into the application, create IDML output, and continue editing converted files in applications such as Affinity, Adobe InDesign, and QuarkXPress. This provides users with a more practical path away from Publisher without requiring a complete restart from scratch.

Rather than treating these files as dead-end documents, teams can use Markzware technology to unlock new value from existing content by structuring it as reusable layout intelligence for migration, review, editing, and modern production workflows.

In business terms, that means content is no longer trapped in a flat document. Text, images, layout relationships, transparency, and page-level organization become more accessible and usable for repurposing, modernization, search, and downstream workflows.

For enterprises, government agencies, educational institutions, printers, and archives, this release delivers more than file conversion. OmniMarkz SE helps preserve prior content investments, reduce manual recreation, and move important publications into more reusable, future-ready workflows.

Markzware OmniMarkz customer Adam Freill stated, “OmniMarkz SE eliminates the need to rebuild documents from scratch. It gives organizations a faster, more cost-effective way to preserve and repurpose the content they already have, without the time and expense of manual redesign.”

“Microsoft Publisher support has been the most requested enhancement to OmniMarkz SE,” said Patrick Marchese, founder and CEO of Markzware. “With Publisher reaching end of life in October 2026, organizations need more than a basic way to access existing .pub files. They need a reliable path to preserve, migrate, and repurpose the value already inside those documents. OmniMarkz SE helps structure existing content into reusable layout intelligence, so teams can move forward without rebuilding everything from scratch.”

The new release also addresses practical migration needs users face every day. Converted files can retain live text, image placement, object positioning, and many visual relationships, helping teams continue editing their work in supported applications. As with most professional file conversions, some font replacement may still be required depending on font availability.

For organizations managing years of archived .pub files and mixed design assets, OmniMarkz SE v4.2 helps reduce manual effort, protect prior investments, and support continuity across evolving content systems. It also creates new opportunities to make long-standing publications more usable in modern search, content operations, and AI-enabled workflows where structured, layout-aware information matters.

With this release, Markzware continues to advance its mission of turning complex documents into usable business assets. The goal is not simply to convert files, but to help organizations preserve what they have already created, unlock more value from it, and carry it forward into modern, reusable, and AI-ready workflows.

For users who prefer a browser-based solution, Microsoft Publisher files can also be converted online via MarkzPortal. For Canva-based workflows, Markzware also offers DesignMarkz, available in the Canva Marketplace.
