Photographs are priceless links to our history, capturing moments and stories that, once lost, can never be replaced. Although photos today are primarily digital, most households keep decades’ worth of printed photographs stored in boxes and albums tucked away. Unfortunately, these photos are susceptible to the elements, as well as unexpected disasters, putting them at risk.

This September, Epson has teamed up with The Photo Managers to support Save Your Photos Month, underscoring the importance of digitizing photos and helping families undertake the task of preserving what’s priceless to prepare for unforeseen events.

“We started Save Your Photos Month as a way to help families protect meaningful memories before it’s too late,” said Cathi Nelson, CEO, The Photo Managers. “Photos tell the stories of our lives, and through free educational classes and resources, and today’s easy-to-use, at-home scanning solutions like the FastFoto, it’s never been simpler to safeguard and digitally preserve these meaningful memories.”

Save Your Photos Month brings together organizations and families to provide support and preservation tips and recommendations to digitize photo collections. All photo collections require time and attention to protect and preserve them, making them accessible to families worldwide and protected from the elements. In today’s modern age, digitizing these collections has become less daunting and more accessible through organizations and modern technology, with efficient at-home scanning solutions.

Throughout Save Your Photos Month, The Photo Managers will be incorporating Epson scanning technology, including the FastFoto, in its tutorials and YouTube events detailing best practices for the easy-to-use, at-home scanning solution. Engineered to streamline the photo archiving process, FastFoto, the world’s fastest personal photo scanner, can quickly scan thousands of photos, up to 36 photos per batch, as fast as one photo per second.

FastFoto also makes it easy to remember loved ones’ handwriting by capturing both the front and back of the photos. With intelligent file organization tools and the Easy Auto-Upload feature, FastFoto makes it simple to organize and upload images to cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive, helping to preserve photos for generations and share photos with family worldwide.

“Save Your Photos Month is an important reminder of those memories that matter most,” said Stacey Tieu, product manager, retail scanners, Epson America. “In today’s digital age, it’s easy to forget about those irreplaceable photos, stored in albums and displayed on the wall. This month raises awareness about the importance of protecting printed photographs and sharing information about tools and resources for safeguarding memories for generations to come.”

Throughout the month of September, The Photo Managers will be hosting a free global event to help families organize, digitize, and safeguard their most cherished memories. The educational series will include:

YouTube Live Events: Twice-weekly conversations on Tuesdays and Fridays with expert photo organizers, including a step-by-step guide to restoring photos damaged by fire or water.  Epson will be sharing information on the FastFoto during The Photo Managers YouTube Live, ‘Essential Tools for Photo Preservation: Digitizing, Organizing & Restoring Your Memories,’ on 2 October.

Memory Keepers Live Summit: The first-ever Save Your Photos Month Live Summit provides a deeper learning experience for attendees. Featuring engaging guest speakers, how-to tutorials for digitizing photos with the FastFoto, a range of prizes, and a dynamic MC, this live, interactive one-day event will be held on 27 September with a percentage of proceeds being donated to the Weather Resilience Fund, supporting local preparedness and recovery efforts.

Disaster Recovery Summit: A free virtual event for photo professionals that will include expert archivists offering an in-depth look at disaster recovery and preparedness.
