
The department of printing technology at Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College (AGPC), Sivakasi, organized a special Induction Program on 20 June 2025 for newly admitted first-year and lateral entry students. The program was designed to introduce students to the rich and dynamic world of printing technology, inspiring them with industry perspectives and nurturing a passion for printing as a meaningful and rewarding career.
The induction program aimed to foster awareness about the significance and evolution of the printing industry, encourage students to develop a keen interest in printing as a creative and technical profession, motivate students to pursue excellence by showcasing success stories of alumni, and build a strong foundation in values such as commitment, innovation, and professionalism.
The highlight of the session was the participation of two distinguished alumni from Classique Labels & Packaging LLC, Dubai and Moses Chelladurai, entrepreneur, The PrintLand, Sivakasi. M. Kalirajan, web offset machine operator (P.Tech – 2022 passout), and K. Jeganathan, hybrid embossing machine operator (P.Tech – 2022 passout)
They shared stories of their journey from AGPC classrooms to global printing floors, detailing their experiences, challenges, and achievements in the printing industry. Their interactive session covered real-time industrial practices and work ethics, technological advancements and trends in printing machinery, the importance of adaptability and continuous skill enhancement, and tips for excelling in job interviews and workplace expectations.
During the lecture, Moses Chelladurai shared his journey into the printing business after working in India and abroad, the challenges he faced while establishing The Printland, and the strategies he employed to ensure sustained growth and success. He elaborated on the importance of innovation, customer satisfaction, quality standards, and digital adaptation in the current market scenario.
He showed many videos on innovative printing methodologies that the students can take up to become entrepreneurs. He addressed the students on financing options available for startups and the benefits provided by the government. He showed many innovative printed samples printed using various printing processes.
The program was presided over by M Nandakumar, principal of AGPC, who spoke about the transformative journey of the guest speakers from students to skilled professionals. He highlighted how discipline, dedication, and hard work lead to global opportunities even from a small town like Sivakasi. He encouraged the lateral entry and first-year students to look up to their seniors as role models and to take pride in choosing printing technology as their field of study. He said in the first year, they filled all seats as there was a great demand for printing. There is a job demand for diploma printing students in India and abroad.
G. Venkateswaran, placement officer, motivated students by explaining the scope of the printing industry in India and abroad, emphasizing career readiness and the importance of industrial exposure. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by M Pugazh, lecturer (SS)/printing technology, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, management, and participants. He urged students to actively engage in departmental activities and take initiative in developing their technical capabilities.
The session proved to be a motivational milestone for the new batch. Students were visibly enthusiastic and inspired by the alumni’s success, gaining clarity and confidence about their decision to join the Printing Technology department. The induction helped set a positive impact for the academic journey ahead and instilled a sense of purpose and belonging among the freshers.
