The Italy-headquartered Tecnau, which offers a complete product portfolio dedicated to paper handling, monitoring, processing and finishing for the digital printing industry, has announced that Edubook AG, a leader in on-demand book production, has invested in a new Revolution 50 AutoSetup system. This strategic acquisition will significantly enhance Edubook’s automated production capabilities, allowing for even greater efficiency, flexibility, and quality in delivering customized print products.

Founded in 2004, Edubook specializes in digitally printed educational materials, including textbooks and schoolbooks, while also serving diverse clients with catalogs, price lists, and fiction publications. Known for its commitment to innovation and streamlined production processes, Edubook has been a long-time partner of Tecnau, operating a Libra 800 fully automated book-making solution since 2017.

“With our goal to become Switzerland’s leading printing service provider for individualized print products, investing in automation and flexibility is essential,” said Sergio Nobile, managing director at Edubook. “The Revolution 50 AutoSetup aligns perfectly with our vision of improving automation and workflow optimization. The Tecnau solution reduces manual touchpoints and enhances production efficiency.”

The Revolution 50 AutoSetup system delivers fully automated job changeovers and will allow Edubook to switch seamlessly between different full-bleed applications without manual intervention. Leveraging 2D Datamatrix reading, the system adjusts impositions (from 1-up to 4-up), side trimmings and sheet length on the fly. This capability minimizes downtime and labor requirements while maintaining the precision and quality Edubook is known for.

Key features of the Revolution 50 AutoSetup include:

  • Dual rotary knives for precise full-bleed cutting
  • Automatic side-trimmer and gutter adjustments
  • Dynamic web aligner and slide-out knife assembly
  • Integration with Tecnau Connect IoT platform for real-time monitoring and analytics

These advanced automation features simplify operations, reduce the need for highly skilled operators, and increase press uptime—critical advantages in today’s competitive printing industry.

“We are excited to further expand our relationship with Edubook by delivering the Revolution 50 AutoSetup system,” said Andrea Del Bianco, area manager at Tecnau. “This solution exemplifies our shared commitment to innovation and productivity. By enabling rapid, error-free job transitions, it empowers Edubook to meet customer demands with unrivaled agility.”

Tecnau’s Revolution 50 family of products is designed for high-speed operation, IoT connectivity, and media flexibility, making it ideal for applications in commercial printing, direct mail, and publishing. The Cutter c52 AutoSetup, central to the system, automatically adjusts to variable impositions and full-bleed requirements with no operator intervention.

The investment in the Revolution 50 AutoSetup marks another milestone in Edubook’s ongoing drive toward sustainable, cost-optimized, and flexible production. It reinforces Edubook’s reputation as a forward-thinking print service provider delivering innovative solutions to the Swiss market.
