Wan-Ifra’s South Asia Newsroom AI Catalyst is now open for applications for its first cohort across South Asia. This accelerator program combines expert guidance with hands-on experience, equipping newsroom stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to drive strategic AI initiatives.

The program aims to accelerate practical experimentation with artificial intelligence applications in newsrooms. At the end of three months of training, you will understand the issues, the benefits, and the tools that will enable you to deploy algorithmic tools in your newsroom. The program is project-oriented, with the implementation of an operational prototype that you will share and challenge with the program participants.

Participants will leave with a prototype and a clear roadmap to scale up their artificial intelligence operations in the newsroom. Each accelerator comprises weekly modules, including learning sessions, hands-on workshops, and a prototyping hackathon.

Each accelerator includes three months of intensive hybrid training and discussion. Participation in the program is complimentary for selected media, with no course fees, though travel costs are to be borne by the participating media companies.

Participating companies will be divided into two cohorts, each participating in a three-monthaccelerator.Two accelerator units will be available in the South Asia region.

The program will start with an in-person workshop to kick-start the AI prototyping project and includes bi-weekly coaching, mentoring, and peer-led sessions to support skills and prototype development.
