Shivam Graphics, a digital print service provider in Goregaon, has elevated its printing capabilities by commissioning a Canon imagePress V1000 digital production press. The installation, completed in the first week of March, is a strategic move by the company to meet the escalating demand for high-quality and rapid printing services from its diverse customer base.

Vipul Vaviya, the owner of Shivam Graphics, was originally considering the Canon imagePress V1350, which has a speed of 135 pages per minute. Vaviya cited space constraints as the primary reason for choosing the slightly slower but still impressive V1000. The new press marks Shivam Graphics’ first foray into operating a Canon press.

“The press we were operating before had a speed of 85 pages per minute. With the growing demand for digital print, we wanted a faster machine. We had originally planned for a Canon imagePress V1350 press. which has a speed of 135 pages per minute. But due to space constraints, we had to go for the imagePress V1000, which has a speed of 100 pages per minute,” said Vipul Vaviya.

Spanning a 3,500-square-foot facility in Goregaon, Shivam Graphics has established itself as a reliable partner for a wide array of corporate and retail customers. With a focus on automation in its fully-fledged finishing section, the company aims to enhance efficiency and productivity with the addition of the Canon imagePRESS V1000 to its arsenal.

The Canon imagePRESS V1000 is a versatile machine capable of handling a wide range of print jobs, including brochures, flyers, posters, and other marketing materials. It supports printing on various media types, from traditional paper to cardstock and vinyl.

Canon India in 2023 announced the launch of the imagePRESS series, introducing the V1000 and V900. The imagePRESS V1000 features a robust front-end controller, the imagePRESS Server D3000, powered by the Fiery FS500 Pro system software. This addition brings new functionalities, familiar workflow, and prepress features to further enhance the printing process.

“We print a variety of jobs such as brochures, flyers, visiting cards, etc., and the new Canon press will help us improve our productivity due to its faster speed. Also, the Fiery system in the press is very good. We plan to print about 200,000 impressions every month on the press,” Vaviya said.

Digital print market is robust

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Shivam Graphics experienced a surge in demand for short-run digital printing volumes. Vaviya noted that the industry is witnessing a trend where customers increasingly prefer shorter print runs, often ranging from 100 to 300 copies.

“This demand is attributed to the rising popularity of digital formats such as eBrochures and eCards,” he said. Vaviya anticipates this trend to persist, keeping the demand for short-run digital print robust in the evolving landscape of the printing industry.

“With the new Canon imagePress V1000, Shivam Graphics is well-positioned to meet and exceed the expectations of its clientele in this dynamic market,” Vaviya concluded.
