Christian Siebert, publisher of Hamburger Abendblatt, will present the opening keynote on ‘Financial Sustainability of the Printed Newspaper’ at the in-person Wan-Ifra World Printers Summit in Frankfurt from 11 to 13 October 2023.
Christian Siebert will shed light on the financial sustainability of print newspapers from a publisher’s perspective. In his presentation, he will delve into the transformations experienced by a regional publishing house due to the consolidation of printing facilities, Wan-Ifra said.
He will be forecasting the future of his primary product, the Hamburger Abendblatt. Originally a regional subscription newspaper, it has evolved into a multifaceted news platform offering a comprehensive blend of both print and digital content.
Christian Siebert is managing director of FUNKE Medien Hamburg, where he holds the position of publisher for Hamburger Abendblatt, Bergedorfer Zeitung, Hamburger Wochenblatt, Elbe Wochenblatt and Hamburger Klönschnack.
Some other speakers include Andreas Gierth, head of Production and Strategic Procurement, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany; Benoît Moreau, general manager and consultant, Ecograf, France; Mohit Jain, executive director, Bennett Coleman & Co; Sally Pirri, vice-president, Print Operations, The Globe and Mail, Canada; Rick Stunt; Group Paper director, DMG Media, UK and many others.
This year, the summit will focus on sustainable business partnerships, with a line-up of exceptional speakers discussing sustainability, and opportunities to connect with the right suppliers, Wan-Ifra reported.
