The French Institute in India announced the launch of the 4 edition of Romain Rolland Prize supported by Priti Paul through Apeejay Trust, an award for the best publication of a French title in India. Like in the previous year, translations into all Indian languages (including English) will be considered for all genres published, excluding the ones which were already sent in the last three editions. In January 2020, the winners of the Romain Rolland Book Prize for 2020 were announced at the Jaipur BookMark event.

All the applicants must send the following materials for each title:

–          5 hard copies of the book ;

–          PDF of the translated title (mandatory) ;

–          PDF of the French title (mandatory) ;

–          The synopsis and front cover of the title ;

–          The CV of the translator with the email id ;

–          All the details requested in the attached excel sheet.

A curated trip to Paris Book Fair (Livre Paris 2021) awaits the wining publisher and the translator where India will be the guest of honor country. The eminent jury will be composed of professors from the different universities in France and India, literary translators from both countries to assess the quality of the translation.

The jury will be chaired by the French Institute in India / Embassy of France in India. The organizers would require all the soft files before the deadline as these will be sent to the respected jury immediately, we can wait for the hard copies of the books in some exceptions such as lockdown period. The requested elements must be submitted by or before 15 June 2020 to apply.
