On 24 April 2017, Manroland Sheetfed India organized an open house at Ahmedabad on print enhancement and cold foil technology attended by 40 of the most prominent and innovative printers and converters in Gujarat. The program was initiated by Kamal Vyas, general manager of Manroland Sheetfed followed by Neeraj Dargan, managing director of Manroland Sheetfed India, speaking briefly about the company’s global accomplishments, especially in the last four years. Dargan introduced Sascha Ehrenberg, Praveen Hirabhai Patel and the Manroland Sheetfed India team to the open house participants.

In-charge for Manroland Sheetfed sales in South-East Asia, Australia and New Zeeland, Ehrenberg made a detailed presentation on foiling technology and print enhancement, a discussion that the company actually pioneered in India almost a decade ago. Ehrenberg’s explanation included many printed job samples illustrating the enhancement possibilities in ordinary print work that can transform it to extraordinary decorated works of imagination and art. These enhancements are essential for survival today, let alone to be profitable or to be considered a leading print provider.

Ehrenberg also described in detail the various enhancement or value-add processes possible on Manroland’s latest Evolution press as well as its user-friendly operation. Unique features of the Evolution press such as inking unit reverse sweep, triple flow inking, inking unit splitting were explained as well as the indexing facility of the inline foiler that can result in huge savings of expensive foiling material. The participants had an opportunity to appreciate the reasons why Manroland Sheetfed has the largest market share of inline foilers installed worldwide—a larger number than the entire competition combined.

Ehrenberg and Dargan made clear that Manroland Sheetfed is back with a bang in the business globally. Especially in India, it has good profitability and a healthy ratio of sales turnover to current and future liabilities. Since the introduction of the Evolution press, over 440 units have been sold worldwide, including repeat orders and long highly configured presses with as many as 8-colors and four coating units.

Patel, managing director of Hira Print Solutions in Mumbai, shared his experience with the other participants as a Manroland Sheetfed user. He delivered a short talk on the benefits of a Roland press and explained some of the features and advantages of his Roland 700 to the participants, particularly how the trouble-free operation of his press is earning money for him with great productivity. He emphasized that while flawlessly delivering optimum output, the Roland 700 also has the lowest cost of ownership.
