Mumbai based ABC Chemicals is a merchant firm trading in pigments, resins, resin raw materials, packaging raw materials, additives, plasticizers and surfactants. Apart from India, the company has offices in China, USA, Egypt, Thailand and UAE. At the recently concluded Asia Coat + Ink Show 2017, ABC Chemicals promoted a wide array of solutions but the focus was on recently launched TR52 pigment by UK headquartered company Billions Europe. TR52 is a rutile titanium dioxide pigment produced by the sulphate process, and specifically designed for the printing ink industry. Suitable for a range of printing ink applications, TR52 provides high gloss and opacity, combined with dispersion. It is a suitable ingredient in inks used for a range of flexible packaging, metal packaging and paper packaging applications.

In the pigments space, ABC Chemicals deals in all kinds of organic and inorganic pigments, pigment chips, carbon black used for all kinds of news inks as well as flexo and gravure inks. The company’s portfolio for resins is made up of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin for printing inks and adhesives, thylenevinyl acetate co-polymer resin for printing inks and coatings and industrial nitrocellulose for printing Inks and lacquers and polyurethane.

With all kinds of ingredients and raw materials under one roof, ABC Chemicals has now sharpened its focus on servicing the flexible packaging industry. “We would like to operate as single window for all raw material for packaging converters,” says Kalhan Kaul, sales manager (flexible packaging), ABC Chemicals. The company now offers aluminium foils, shrink sleeves, solvents, laminating adhesives, paper and substrates such as PET, BOPP, CPP, BOPA and PVC rigid films. ABC Chemical is supplying flexible packaging materials to more than ten countries, says Kaul.

The company is now studying the corrugated segment as well and would look to supply the industry with top liner board, fluting paper and base paper. “We see a lot of potential there,” Kaul says. He adds that the Asia Coat + Ink is an important event for the industry and provides a platform for all kinds of players in the industry to interact.
