With the management of Mumbai-based Arihant Jumbo Zerox shifting to the next generation, technology has come to the centre stage in the whole scheme of things. The first six months of 2016 have seen multiple state-of-theart technologies being adapted at the digital print house, located right in the middle of the commercial and printing hub of Mumbai, Andheri East. A major highlight has been installation of a HP PageWide XL 5000 wide format printer. Arihant is the first print house in Mumbai to buy the recently launched PageWide XL 5000.
Talking about the HP PageWide XL 5000, owner of Arihant, Sachin Chhadwa says the machine has made plotting and graphics printing very convenient because of it multifunction capabilities. “The most appealing feature of the PageWide XL 5000 is that the machine does the job of two printers in one single device, providing monochrome and color prints. My customers are a happy lot as they can avoid going to multiple places if they want both monochrome and color prints. Currently we are using the printer for plotting and printing graphics. Our main customers are from real estate and engineering sectors who need print outs of technical drawings.”
According to Chhadwa, the running cost of PageWide is far economical as compared to LED printers. The HP PageWide XL 5000 includes a stationary 101.6-cm (40- inch) printbar that spans the whole printing width. As paper moves under the printbar, the entire page is printed in one pass, enabling very high printing speeds.
The new generation at Arihant has sharpened focus on technological upgradation. And installation of PageWide XL 5000 is just one example of that. XL 5000 will prove to be extremely cost-effective compared to laser technology.
HP had officially launched the PageWide technology in India in October last year when it unveiled XL 8000. HP PageWide technology, which currently powers HP inkjet web presses and HP business printers will be scaled for the upcoming HP 3D Multi Jet FusionTM printers. The PageWide XL 5000 was subsequently launched in India during Media Expo 2016 held in January this year in Mumbai. The HP PageWide XL5000 is targeted at small- to medium-sized print houses and can print up to 14 D/A1 prints a minute. Ink will last for up to four rolls of paper.
Commenting on the installation of Mumbai’s first XL 5000, Saumitra Trivedi, managing partner, Edifice Technologies, says, “The new generation at Arihant has sharpened focus on technological upgradation. And installation of PageWide XL 5000 is just one example of that. XL 5000 will prove to be extremely costeffective compared to laser technology. The PageWide technology breaks the myth that inkjet technology is expensive and slower than laser technology.”
Canon C10000 VP installed
Few other highlights of Arihant’s investment during the first six months of this year are Canon C10000 VP, Oce PlotWave 500 and Roland XR-640 large format printer. Talking about Canon C10000 VP, Chhadwa says this move was basically to upgrade the technology as Arihant had two Canon printers with slower speeds. “The Canon C10000 VP is a much faster printer than what we had in our stable. At 100 letter-size images a minute, the speed is fast and running cost is low. We availed the buyback scheme that Canon was offering and got this printer and gave away the two older and slower Canon printers. The buyback scheme offered by Canon made our decision easier,” he says.
Chhadwa saw the demonstration and trial runs of Canon C10000 VP at Pamex 2015 where the printer was officially launched. The press has been designed to meet the demand from both commercial and in-house print service providers. The device offers significant versatility thanks to its finishing options, which include a new professional puncher that supports a greater range of media sizes and a new in-line creasing functionality. A choice of digital front-end controllers – Canon’s PRISMAsync or the new EFI Fiery FS200 Pro – enables service providers to select the right RIP and controller to streamline their workflow.
