At drupa 2016, Canon’s 4,200 square metre stand showed a wide range of products at the show across toner, continuous and sheetfed inkjet, wide format and workflow. Canon announced the launch of the new Arizona 2200 series of UV flatbed printers at drupa. Following the successful launch of the Oce Arizona 1200 series in early 2016, Canon stated that the new product is an enhanced solution for print service providers who need to increase their production capacity, expand their range of applications and meet tight deadlines. Other new product launches for Canon at drupa were the imagePRESS C8000VP toner production press, Oce ColorStream 6000 Chroma continuous inkjet and VarioPrint i300 cutsheet inkjet press ColorGrip version.
In addition to the new product launches, it was Canon’s first public showing of the imagePRESS C10000VP toner production press, the Voyager – a prototype B2+ inkjet photo press and the Oce imageStream 2400 continuous inkjet press. Canon also showcased its new workflow products – color control suite TrueProof v 5.0 and ProJet 660Pro, 2500, 5500X 3D printers.
This year, Canon’s campaign theme at drupa was #Unleashprint, which combines Canon’s passion for print and the company’s untapped potential. According to Canon, the firm is guided by three core principles to help it in supporting its print customers to unlock the potential of their business. Firstly, Canon said it combines innovative thinking with state-of-the-art technology to bring bold, personal and dynamic ideas to life. Secondly, Canon noted that it constantly challenges itself to successfully meet customers’ expectations. Lastly, the firm aims to inspire its customers by creating more value in their work, while capitalizing on new revenue streams.
“The Canon stand is a very interesting place to be in drupa as the overall aim is to show the various applications of the presses rather than only focussing on the machine. The response has been quite good. The general feeling in drupa 2016 according to me is that digital or inkjet is now more mainstream, faster, better and even more accepted. I see a lot of Indians at the show – much much more than 2008 or 2012. And the best part is that they are coming from even interior towns in India. So, all these Indian printers are now much more informed than before which should help them take proper informed decisions,” said Puneet Datta, director, professional printing products division, Canon India.
