Starting April 2016, Sudeep Bhattacharjee has been appointed the managing director of manroland India, a wholly owned subsidiary of manroland web systems. Headquartered in Delhi since 2003, the 100% subsidiary of manroland web systems is active in the sales and servicing of weboffset printing systems. “Customer focus, high-performance service, and business relationships based on partnership can be best realized with a local organization,” says Jörn Gossé, managing director, sales, manroland web systems. “By appointing Bhattacharjee, we are reinforcing our local presence in a major market and continuing to support our customers with innovative solutions in offset printing, and trendsetting products for digital workflows and postpress in industrial digital printing.”

Since 2008, Bhattacharjee managed the entire newspaper production of The Times of India in Delhi as an assistant vice president. As a hands-on professional and manager, Bhattacharjee has held leading management positions for the ABP Group of Publications in Kolkata, and the Business India Group of Publications in Mumbai.

The past financial year was pretty good for manroland web systems which is now part of the Possehl Group. The company performed very well in its relatively new digital finishing solutions division, while the order intake for the company as a whole at 258.7 million Euros, increased compared to the previous financial year. In the global web offset press market including newspaper and commercial printing, manroland web systems was the leader in 2015 with a total market share of about 45%. The Lithoman and Rotoman heatset web offset presses did particularly well along with the Formerline and the Foldline digital finishing lines.

“By appointing Bhattacharjee, we are reinforcing our local presence in a major market and continuing to support our customers with innovative solutions in offset printing, and trendsetting products for digital workflows and postpress in industrial digital printing.”

Bhattacharjee says, “manroland India has invested a great deal in upgrading the skills of its engineers. Manpower training and utilization have been a focus for manroland India. We have sent our workforce to the headquarters of manroland web systems in Augsberg in Germany for training for extended periods and multiple times. And only after the satisfactory completion of this training do we depute these service engineers to the presses installed at our customers’ facilities. We have taken a significant step forward in this respect. We want to reiterate that in terms of our competition, we are the only company in India to have our own service and customer support facility in place. Discerning customers are aware of the advantages of receiving service directly from the company as opposed to that from any distributor.”

manroland India would like to continue its focus on press updates which include upgrades, retrofits and reconfigurations for its customers in India. manroland has an online store for its spare parts and customers can opt for parts at a discount. As of June 1, 2015, manroland India has become an exclusive distributor for labelling equipment, services and consumables of Novexx Solutions, Germany, formerly part of the Avery Dennison Group which provides printers for bar code printing.

“India is the only market in the world which is still showing a positive growth. manroland India as well as manroland web systems are extremely positive and we believe that we can provide the best consulting and service to our customers helping them grow irrespective of the press that our customers may have. We aim to be totally self-sufficient in terms of service and manpower,” says Bhattacharjee.
