Mumbai-based Welbound demonstrated two of its very popular technologies at Pamex 2015. On display was its hotselling WB2000 which is a multi-clamp perfect binder with six book clamps along with PUReBind Standard which is a compact PUR perfect binder with automatic setup. “The WB2000 is a time tested product of ours and also one of our biggestsellers.Itstill remains very popular after all these years. At Pamex 2015 too it has been a crowd puller,” P Sajith, marketing director of Welbound said with a hint of satisfaction.
He further stated that the point of demonstrating the WB2000 at the event was not only to show the technology but also to talk about the new generation of hot melt which requires less energy. The PUReBind is a family of PUR single clamp binders developed with the intent of making PUR binding easy and accessible to all, according to Sajith. It is ideal for short-run offset and digital book production and is capable of binding print heavy sheets with coatings and varnish without the need to thread-sew
Sajith also talked about Welbound’s solution for end-ofthe-line packaging, the HotCase 500. The machine was not on display at Pamex but Sajith said that this product is a new area for the company and since its official unveiling at Bobst Competence’15 its trial has generated great response.
This is the company’s first foray into the end-of-the-line packaging solution for sealing transport cartons. The idea behind promoting the machine was to create awareness about the advantages that hot melt adhesive has over tapes when it comes to packing transport cartons,” said Sajith.
Welbound is working with some big brands in the food and FMCG industries as these are the focus areas for the company. “The technology is still in the trial stage but the result of trials of the past many months has generated positive response and a concrete development is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2016. We have taken a very long-term view when it comes to this segment and also plan to partner playersin the corrugated box-making business, adhesive makers and applicators,” he said.
