Dainik Jagran with more than 56 million readers and 231 local editions is available every day in 11 Indian states and is counted among the biggest newspaper publishers, printing dailies in Hindi (Dainik Jagran, Nai Dunia, Nav Dunia), Urdu (Inquilab), Gujarati (Gujarati Mid-Day), English (Mid-Day), Punjabi (Punjabi Jagran) and the compact bilingual (iNext). To maintain its current market position and to continue its tradition of growth well into the future, Jagran Prakashan kicked-off 2015 with a new partner, ppi Media. The software developer from Hamburg will supply the Jagran Group with its classic workflow solution for newspaper production which streamlines and optimizes complicated processes. The initial project kick-off meeting will take place the first week of February 2015.
“The need of the hour is a reliable workflow suited for a multiedition and multi-centre working which delivers accuracy and speed. Working simultaneously on the editorial page and advertisement or scheduling for placement of content and advertisements and support of page planning with central approach were key features of the ppi workflow. Among workflows tested, ppi Media with its complete workflow solution was the preferred choice,” says Sandeep Gupta, executive president of Jagran Prakashan.
The newspaper decided to go with ppi Media’s powerful print production solutions including PlanPag for planning and production, AdX Print, AdPag and AdMan for advertising solutions, ProPag for automatic page assembly as well as to supplement for InLink and DistEl. ppi Media’s CEO, Norbert Ohl, is excited about this new order saying, “We are proud to have found such a renowned customer as Jagran Prakashan. The Hindi daily has an impressive track record and is among the most popular daily newspapers in India. I am looking forward to working together and implementing this major project.”
Kick-off in February 2015 The project officially kicks off in February 2015 when ppi Media sets up the initial systems in Jagran’s publishing plants. By providing workshops, training programmes and basic installations, ppi Media will stand side-by-side with Jagran’s employees and bring them up to speed on the new software. This is an integral part of ppi Media’s ongoing consultant and education services. The first modules are scheduled to go live in October 2015 and work will be completed by Q1 2016.
