On 5 to 6 December 2014, the German Book Office (GBO) New Delhi organized a training programme for Young Professionals in Publishing. The GBO director, Prashasti Rastogi, says, “The Indian publishing industry is experiencing a rise in the engagement of young professionals who are making a significant contribution to the strategy of the future. In this time of transition coupled with growth, there is a need to equip the workforce with support skills to optimize their role in continuous growth and global competitiveness. The face of publishing is changing fast and becoming increasingly competitive while there is a dearth of training opportunities in core subjects and concerns.” For for those already working in the industry these call for attention given the need to constantly stay updated.

Several rounds of expert sessions held during the two-day GBO publisher training programme showcased digital trends to help the young publishers in creating and developing a digital strategy. Sessions discussed the digital rights marketplace, crossover media strategy, crossover marketing strategy, and crossover licensing.

Through such compact, comprehensive, workshop-based, training programmes GBO aims at reaching out to publishing professionals across verticals and looks at creating a fertile ground for talent development for forward looking companies and individuals.

Each training event will be informative, hands-on, experiential and will be led by area experts from India and abroad. GBO has been conducting programmes for publishers in various formats since its inception and will again organize the Globalocal event – its flagship annual B2B conference at New Delhi from 12 to 13 February 2015.
