The department of printing Technology at Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College, Sivakasi, celebrated ‘Printers’ Day’ on 24 February 2026, to pay a tribute to Johannes Gutenberg, the Father of Printing.Â
The function was presided over by principal M Nandakumar, who addressed a large gathering of students and staff members who had assembled to honor Gutenberg.Â
Nandakumar said every printing student should carry a sense of immense pride in their profession, noting that the invention of movable type and the printing press stands as the invention of the millennium, having fundamentally paved the way for worldwide literacy and the exchange of knowledge.
Nandakumar guided the students towards future career paths, highlighting that they should focus on developing their talents and technical expertise in the field of packaging, which continues to grow with massive potential in the current industrial landscape. He pointed out the substantial demand for skilled printing graduates, emphasizing that success in this field requires not only technical proficiency but also a positive attitude, adaptability, and strong communication skills.Â
The Principal noted the global reach of the department’s training, mentioning that many foreign companies frequently recruit our students.Â
To meet the high demand for print technical persons, the college has also been providing specialized printing training to mechanical and electrical diploma students to ensure they are well-equipped for placement within the industry.Â
This year’s placement achievements were particularly notable, with seven students already placed at Emirates Printing Press, Dubai, while upcoming recruitment drives are scheduled with major firms including Napco National in Saudi Arabia, and Gulf Panorama and Hot Pack in Dubai.
