Neelgagan is an Indian manufacturer of stationery products that has built a wide-ranging portfolio, which the company says connects traditional paper offerings with contemporary office essentials, catering to a broad base of students, professionals, and institutions.
Talking to Indian Printer & Publisher, Pranav Gupta, director at Neelgagan, explains the company’s positioning as a supplier of reliable stationery solutions for the domestic market. The company is entering an expansion phase focused on scaling up existing production lines and future-proofing its manufacturing setup, while taking cues from global benchmarks—particularly Japan’s quality-led manufacturing ethos.

Its paper-based portfolio includes notebooks, long books, account books, writing pads, sketchbooks, drawing books, loose sheets, and art papers in a range of GSM options and binding formats. These are complemented by exam-focused notebooks and registers, which continue to drive strong demand in India.
According to Gupta, demand for stationery in India has remained notably resilient despite the global push toward digitization. He points out that essential items such as registers and files are still indispensable, alongside a visible shift in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets toward higher-specification products, including heavier paper GSM and more durable bindings.
“This shift in consumer preference mirrors Neelgagan’s internal emphasis on performance-led manufacturing, where every product—whether an adhesive tape or a sketchbook—is assessed for long-term use rather than as a disposable item,” Gupta says. From diverse notebook formats and account books to plastic document management solutions and high-utility desk accessories, the company’s market approach is anchored in functional, dependable, and consistent product quality, he adds.
To sustain quality at scale, Neelgagan relies on advanced manufacturing processes such as automated ruling, precision cutting, and multiple specialized binding systems, including center-pin, spiral, and perfect binding. The use of modern offset and flexographic printing further ensures consistency in finish across inner pages and covers.

Beyond paper products, the company applies stringent quality checks to its plastic stationery range, with close attention to mold integrity and material thickness to deliver the durability required for institutional usage
On market presence, Gupta says, “While the domestic market continues to be our mainstay, Neelgagan has developed a focused international footprint. We currently export to Nepal, Bhutan, and select West African markets, emphasizing sustainable volumes and regional compliance rather than aggressive, short-term expansion. This calibrated growth philosophy is equally reflected in our domestic distribution strategy, which favors long-standing wholesale relationships and repeat demand over rapid market penetration.”
Looking ahead, the company is investing in world-class facilities, higher levels of automation, and workflow optimization. By applying the same manufacturing rigor to everyday stationery as is used for premium consumer goods, Neelgagan says it aims to reinforce its position as a trusted benchmark for quality in India’s evolving stationery market.
