Prashant Chavan as cluster sales head – west, Heidelberg
Heidelberg India has named long-time company executive Prashant Chavan as cluster sales head – west, placing him in charge of key markets, including Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Udaipur. Chavan succeeds Viraj Damle, who recently stepped down from the position.
A Heidelberg veteran of more than 18 years, Chavan has risen through the organization’s service operations, developing extensive technical expertise and strong customer relationships across commercial and packaging print segments. His two decades of industry experience span press and postpress technologies, solution-driven sales, and strategic account management.
Before his elevation, Chavan headed Heidelberg’s service operations in the western region, working closely with leading print houses and supporting their technology upgrades. The company noted that his collaborative approach and deep understanding of customer needs have earned him a strong reputation across the region’s printing community.
Welcoming the appointment, Heidelberg India president Samir Patkar said Chavan’s blend of experience and market insight would help drive growth in the West. Patkar also thanked outgoing cluster head Viraj Damle for his contribution over the years.
The company said Chavan’s new mandate aligns with Heidelberg India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its regional footprint and reinforce support for both commercial and packaging printers as they modernise operations and invest in advanced production technologies.

Leadership changes like this can have a big impact on a company’s strategy, especially in a fast-evolving industry like commercial printing. I’m interested to see how Prashant Chavan’s leadership will influence Heidelberg’s approach in the West Cluster region.
